Aftermarket HU

alright, i have two Orion Xtreme 12s and im getting ready to build a box that fits the rear well and i got hooked up with an orion 500 watt amp. that part is taken car of, wires run and everything. I had plans to just keep the stock HU, to tell you the truth i like it, but my friend said he would just GIVE me his Panasonic head unit. It is the first one they came out with with the awesome backlighting. But enough with all of that, I need to know if i can just rip out the stock HU and plug in the Panasonic. Do i just hook up the speaker wires and boom its done? I remember i did a system in a cadillac and it had bose amps at each speaker, and when i hooked up the wires there was kind of a buzz sound. Will this happen with the big monsoon amp? just wondering, just in case i get the HU. Thanks.

Which model of panasonic does he have? I think panasonic has only one 1.5 din and the rest are just the din size. Anotherword your stock HU is a 1.5 din size. You can get a din to fit into that hole but it will take a adapter kit to make it fit.

I don't know enough about the monsoon to answer that other q.

Well, I have the bose system and it requires an adaptor. I have read on here that you can plug a aftermarket hu into the monsoon system with only a standard wiring harness for your car. It will probably cost you 5 to 15 dollars. That is what I've read here, but you may want to visit a reputable stereo install shop and ask or call crutchfield. Tell them you are looking at an aftermarket receiver and ask what you need to hook it up to your monsoon system.
