Advice on 10" woofer...have tube, looking to upgrade
Right now I have a 10" tube box with a pioneer free air sub in it. I'm using a kicker amp pushing ~120 watts to the speaker and it sounds fine. I just got another 4 ch amp for the rest of the speakers, but i don't have room for all the amps, so I'm buying the rear wall amp rack from subthump.com. http://www.subthump.com/acamarorack.htm
Since i'm cleaning up the amps, i was thinking of getting the stealth box from them too so that i would have more trunk space.
Now for the questions! Will the free air pioneer work inside a sealed box? If it doesn't, I was looking at this rockford fosgate since its rated to fit inside the box from subthump. http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/ROCRFZ3410 Also, what will hit harder, the stealth box with the rockford fosgate(or any other sub that fits), or the tube that I have now?
Thanks for the help!

The Subthump stealth box should sound a LOT better, especially if you match the subwoofer the the volume the Stealth box has in it. Look for a subwoofer that likes small volume. I believe the Stealth only has about .6 cubic feet of space. I'd PM either LS1 Rules, or RThompson about subwoofers that will like that enclosure. Also PE/E-mail Megabass (?), he's the owner of subthump and would have some subwoofer recommendation for that enclosure.
Good luck with your setup though.

I emailed Steve, the owner of subthump.com, with the same question about a 10" for the stealthbox. Here is his answer:
"If you can find a E10k, that's the one I recommend. The Infinity perfect 10.1 works. I've had several guys use those. But the Ed subs work the best. If not the Ed, then I would recommend an Alpine, JL or image dynamics. That will give you the best sound quality and thump for your dollar."
I ended up going with the Alpine Type-R. When I get it all installed, I'll let you know how it sounds.
The quality with the subthump products is great. I recieved my stealthbox yesterday and decided to order the amp rack that night. That should be here next week.

Actually, the setup i had sounded pretty good. It wasn't just a store bought tube...it was a tube enclosure with a pioneer free-air sub.
I ended up buying an amp on ebay... a kicker DX350. I ordered the ed10K dual 4 ohm woofer. Now to wait for it to come in and install it!
