adding another sub

Hey Guys,
Right now I have a mono AMP that can handle 2ohm or 4ohm. And I currently have a 12"sub at 4ohm connected to it. Would it be possible to add another 12" at 4ohm and run it in parallel then run that to the amp?

Thanks
I have the MTX 6500D. ANd a JL 12w3. And I want antoher 12w3

Get another sub like the one you have and then connect it in parallel with the one you have to get a 2ohm load for your amp.

No, no power issues. I'm running my 6500D into a single 10" Alpine Type-S at 2ohms and I have no problems at all.

So it shouldnt matter that I'll be running 2 subs at 2ohms into that amplifier?

Or...I was thinking about just replacing my 12w3 running at 4ohms with a sub running at 2ohms. How is your 10" Alpine Type-S? How did it compare to you JL? Is it cleaner? I saw it here for this price.

The Type-S blows away the 10W3 in every way. The 10W3 is an excellent sub but the Type-S is a better match for the .6 cubic foot Vantage Stealthbox I'm using.

You will have no problems running another 4 ohm 10W3 off that amp. Get that... OR two 4 ohm Type-S's !!!!!

so is the Type-S really better than the W3? I'm reading some mixed reviews.

All I can say is that for me the Type-S hits harder, plays louder and, to my ears, goes lower than the 10W3 D4 I used to have. Nothing against the 10W3. Like I said before, the Type-S just seems to be a better match for the enclosure than the 10W3 is.

I agree on the Type-S. But I would go with a W3V2 over the Type-S. But on the older model W3, I'd go with the Type-S. Can't beat the Type-S pricing. Well, exept you'd have to buy two subs instead of one .
