I feel extremely stupid on this on because I should know. BUT.......for those of you who've added an amp to the Monsoon system, maybe you can helpl me. My stereo is all stock, and I've added an amp, x-over, and line converter to my system. My question is, with everything wired up I'm not getting much power to the sub. It seems as though I might have wired into something that's drawing power from my amp. I spliced into the right rear speaker and that goes to the line converter, then to the x-over, then to the amp. I've gone over the wires over and over again, but I just can't figure it out. I really wish the stock head unit had RCA outputs so I could eliminate the line converter, but I don't want to change out the head unit since it's a double din. I dunno, maybe someone can come up with something I'm overlooking. I feel like a complete retard, so someone please help me out if you can......

 

Two things I can think of to consider:

1. Have you tried turning up the gain on your LOC if it has one (it should).
2. The outputs you're trying to use may have a crossover upstream so you're not sending I full range signal to your amp/x-over.

 

In terms of an "upstream" crossover, is that something that's installed on the speaker itself? I noticed that there are 4 wires going to the speaker. I'm guessing it's the high and midrange, seeing as how it's a 2-way speaker. Any idea which ones are for the midrange and which ones are for the high. I might have spliced into either the high or one of each. That would suck if that's the case. Is there a wiring schematic online somewhere that I can reference to? Of course the wiring for the Monsoon isn't in my service manual so I'm kinda at a loss here.

 

The BEST place to tap a signal from the Monsoon system is behind the head unit. All speakers in the Monsoon are x-over by the Monsoon amp (except the front tweetes, they're run off the HU), so that's why you're not getting enough bass.
