94' camaro sub issues

I've ruled out the amp as the issue. I have an 1850 max watt amp on 2 12" Kicker CVR subs and I have an issue with the amp just cutting out. I stop getting power from the distribution block. I checked the inline fuse and its ok. asside from the factory stuff thats hooked up i have an electric wp and LED lights hooked up the the power distribution block. They all stay on but the amp cuts out.

I cant find any problems in the wiring from the block to the amp. i tried a smaller amp (750max watts) the amp doesnt kick out near as much and also comes back on a lot faster then my bigger amp.

When the sub is cut out it i can put a tester on the possitive and negative wires and only get 1-3 volts but when its workin i have a full 12.5-13 volts.... im wondering if i should just hook the power wire up to the battery directly and see if that solves it?

1850 watt amp? I'd run 2 gauge straight from the battery

Re: 94' camaro sub issues

well ive never had trouble with it till now. its been good for like 3 years and every time i check the wire its not very warm. Its a off brand amp so its not like it actually has 1850watts at max its prolly more like 1000. Ill keep that in mind if nothing else works. im wondering if im not getting a good enough ground.

Sounds to me like the amp is going into protection mode for some reason

Re: 94' camaro sub issues

Where is the amp mounted? When I bought my 86 Camaro years ago, the guy I had bought it from had a Pioneer GMH-100 amp mounted right behind the back seat. It sat if full sun. I could go out on a hot day and the subs wouldn't work until I had driven around and the interior of the car cooled down.

When I installed my system in my 95 I made a bracket and mounted the amp behind the spare tire. So to get the amp you actually have to pull the spare tire out. Anyway, I've never had an issue with it cutting out.

Depending on where it was mounted it could have an effect on it.

Good Luck.
