94 Bose System
94 Bose System
I have a 94 Camaro Z with the factory 3 speaker bose sound system. I put in an aftermarket deck, but the 2 front speakers sound pretty crappy. I heard that you might have to bypass an amp somewhere... if so, where is it.. and what do i need to do to get speakers into the rear? any help would be greatly appreciated, as I just got the car 2 days ago.
ok...first of all, the bose is ****ty!! The amps are mounted inside the black casing that houses the front speakers...you can pull the speaker out and tie onto the line coming right off the speaker. Disconnect all speakers lines that USED to go to the old head unit. WHY?? Because the speaker is self powered. What you are doing is giving power into the speaker amp so that the amp can power the speaker...Two power sources= not good...you will burn up your deck or your speaker if you leave it like that!!
I, myself, ran all new wire to the doors and just installed the new speaker in place of the old ones. very simple to do...
The rear speakers are a PITA to get the speaker wires up to wear the rear speaker housing is. Then you will most likely have to buy an adapter to house your speaker in the sidewall in the backseat. Theyre pretty cheap.
As for that POS mid-range driver thats in the trunk...disconnect it or rip ir out completely...but its more personal preference. Just dont leave ANY of the amps still connected!! Trust me, speaking from personal experience. I bought a 489.00 deck and it smoked the internal amp on the cd deck and fried the speakers in the doors...so just be safe and disconnect now...and save yourself the hassle!!
Hope that helps...if you need any more details or how-to's for the stereo...just PM me...
