2002 Camaro front speaker

2002 Camaro front speaker

my door speaker on the left side blew and i bought some alpines that only have two terminals to replace them with and i was wondering how i should wire them up. should i just twist both blacks together and both reds together and wire them to the speaker or do it red black red black. im not a big electronics expert so im just tryin to make sure before i do it.

Do NOT twist the wires together. One set comes from the HU to power the tweets. The other set is from the amp and they power the woofers. The signal from the HU is a full range signal (bass, mids and treble). The tweets have a small capacitor on them that filters out the treble from the rest of the signal. I'm not certain but I think the wires from the amp are low passed (no treble). If you connect these wires to your new speakers there will be no highs coming from them. And since your new speakers are 4 ohms instead of 2 ohms like the factory speakers your new speakers will only be getting half as much power as the factory speakers.
