2 12's vs. 3 10's

Which would sound better? Im going with the Alpine type Rs and the JBL 1200..1 amp and a subthump t-top box. Im not sure if I can use only 1 amp with 3 10s, but if I can which would sound better. I listen to 75% Rock 25% Rap music, I like hard hitting bass but also like to hear clean sounding bass. What would you guys go with in this situation. thanks

2 alpine type r 12's by far. they are loud and in my opinion they sound deeper and cleaner then the 10s. plus the three 10s would be more expensive. the 12s are very nice subs how much are you getting them for. i have been looking to get a pairbut i am still unsure about if i would get those or some others

Ive seen the 12s go for about $89-109 on EBay. I thought the 12s would probably hit a lot harder, but then I was thinking about how cool it would be to have 3 subs in my rear hatch!

Three subs are pretty cool-looking, but that's one more woofer you gotta buy. Then you have to worry about impedence issues when you hook them up. I like the dual 12 setup. It will hit harder and play lower. 10s just don't seem to play low enough for me. My .02

10's will get louder and sound tighter, how low they go is all in the box design.

i would go with the 10's if you have the extra cash.

or an alternative is to put the 12's in a box that will allow them to sound "tighter" than the 10's.....
