1994 z28 convertable speaker issues

I was wondering if i could replace the factory door and rear speakers that are 5.5 inches with 6.5 inches aftermarket. i measured the speakers and they are 5.5, cone and the outer rubber piece. the door speakers are attached to a plastic housing while the rear ones bolt on the body. any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks

I have replaced the rear and the driver side in my 95 camaro convertible. I bought 6.5 inch speakers and they were actually small for the holes. You could easily for 6 3/4 in the holes.

I have a 96 convertible I replaced all 4 speakers with 6 1/2 but it has been 10 years ago so my memory may be a little off. ... the screw holes didn't line up I could only get 2 of the holes to line up never had any problem with just having 2 screws in them watch out for the mounting depth on the doors you don't want them to hit the windows when you let them down

Any 6.5" or 6.75" will work in the front. Self tapping screws or drill then mount new screws. Put a little strip caulk or clear silicone around the hole for best seal and sound.
Get a shallow mount version for the rear to avoid any contact moving parts for the top lift assy.
If running an 5 channel amp and sub, set your crossovers for all 4 6.5" @ high pass 70-80hz (whatever your head unit-amp will allow)
Drop a bazooka dual 4 Ohm voice coil 10"-12" sub in the back crossed @ low pass 80hz and you'll have plenty of tunes with the top up or down.
