1 ohm sub

What is a good sub that can run at 1 ohm. Most run at 2 ohms, but I need something that will work at 1. Any ideas?

Do you mean "amp"?

Or do you mean you need a single sub that can be wired to 1 ohm load? If that is the case, you need woofer that has dual 2 ohm voice coils and then you will need to wire them in parallel. If you are using a pair of woofers, you will need woofers with dual 4 ohm coils..... then wire all 4 coils in parallel.

I think you might be getting a little confused...... or just mis-understanding something......

I did mean sub, because I think I still want to go with my original idea, and have two memphis amps, each taking 1100w x 1ohm, and running one sub to each. Does that make sense? Or am I still getting something wrong? Thanks

Any 2 ohm DVC sub will run to 1 ohm. I'm running a pair of 4 ohm DVC Kicker S12L7s at 1 ohm to an Audiobahn amp.

MTX makes a 1 ohm sub. Check it out at www.mtxaudio.com but only if you can dish out about $900 a piece

The Digital Designs 9500
Adire Audio Brahma
Elemental Designs A series
Image Dynamics ID Max or IDSPL
Resonant Engineering XXX
Kicker L7

Lots of subs are capable of 1100 watts each and will show the amp a 1 ohm load.

I know there are a lot, but I want to be sure I get one of the good ones. Any other suggestions?

I would like to keep it sround $200 per sub. Maybe a little more if I get a really good deal on something that is usually a lot more. Would it be possible to have two 12's in a ported box? That would mean like 4 cubic feet right. I can build the box, but I haven't even checked to see if it would be possible.

Two 12"s ported is totally possible. But 4cuft. will be tough to get unless you remove those side plastic panels. Megabass makes a box for two 12"s ported. Check out his site at www.subthump.com
My recommendation for that price range would be the Elemental Designs e12kd2. You can check em' out here.

You are the second person to reccomend those subs, and they are cheap, so thats a good thing. I just found out I can get an even better deal on the kenwood amps, so I'm thinking two amps per sub, one to each voice coil. Would this be worth a try. I can get them for like $75 a piece.

How much did those Kenwoods put out again? And how much are you getting them for? reason I ask is you might be better off with a single amp with more power.

I don't know much about those particular amps, but I'd say it'd be pointless. Those woofers have 2 ohm voice coils. If you use one amp, you will be running a 1 ohm nominal and getting 450WRMS (Right? Can't remember.) If you use one amp per voice coil, you will be running at 2 ohms and only getting 225WRMS....... also known as 450WRMS for the whole woofer. So it'd be the same either way..... waste of money.

Which is why a single amp would be more logical and easier to wire.

JBL 1200.1 would be a good amp to run with those subs on a tight budget.

If you can wait til March 11 for an amp Elemental Designs is introducing a new amp called Nine.1. with will be 1009 watts(rms) @ 1 ohm. Perfect power for the 2 e12k's. and if you pre-order it now it will only cost you $240, MSRP is $600
