I don't know anything about your installation skills. What I do know is that I drove the car into my garage with that opti on it. It was in perfect operating condition when I removed it from the car. Since I didn't do the install, I can't be responsible for the results.
the opti is junk ..and the only way to install it wrong is to not line up the gear were its notched on both sides motor side and opti side ..you don't have to force it on or its wrong ..I get spark its just slow like it sparks every other rotation same thing my burnt opti did ...and yes its electrical and guess its my fault for buying used ...Never again though ...enjoy that $130 last u get from me dipstick..
Does the '94 Optispark have the splined driveshaft? If so, it's very easy to install out of time. I went through two optisparks before I realized you can put the shaft in the distributor in any orientation easily (despite the one wider spline). It only goes one way into the engine I've found though. I bought a brand new driveshaft and a new GM optispark and could still easily misalign the two parts. I suggest you take it apart and confirm that you've got the shaft in the distributor correctly. I know it's hard to accept the fact that you can mess up something so seemingly simple, but it's worth checking, right? There are some other electrical gremlins that can mess you up as well. Is your ignition coil well grounded?
