Or maybe with the way GM has been dragging their feet over the Kappa platform, they don't wont Holden doing a "Monaro" and rolling out a kappa version in quick fashion.
Mickey T might be able to shed some light on this?

The Monte would be a good car to put suiside doors on. That would make it different enough from the Camaro.

torana, as such, doesn't exist. there is a car that's a mid-sized rear driver, built off a cut-down commodore platform. but the name was affectionately given to it by hanenberger, who worked on the seventies torana. the design team don't want it called "torana" because nobody else in the world knows what a torana is.
whatever, i would expect it to come off the VE platform, not the kappa platform. the kappa is stretchable for length, but the VE is also adjustable (hence swb, lwb, off-road versions), and is cheaper and more accessible. Given that, don't think US. Think Asia Pacific...
Anyway, holden's response to not having a kappa platform to play with will be revealed at the Melbourne Motor Show this friday...

This little bit of news might change my mind

No you don't. There's a nasty sqweak now in the left rear interior panel from when they removed it to replace the rear quarter panel. It's driving me nuts and I haven't had the time to fix it.
In case you missed it, my stepson and his buddy borrowed my Z28 when I was out of town last summer and tried playing bumper cars with a couple garbage cans. The Camaro LOST!
(Those plastic garbage cans are tougher than they look!

I've got a few miles on you, and you have a few years on me...I hope to even it out
Mine won't have over 65k on it before a 5th gen arrives. That is, if I can keep it out of Bowling Green
Damn, that was fun...
