Zeta Is Dead At Oshawa?

Apparently they only have Camaro going there in '09 as GM yesterday said that the Buick & Cadillac Zeta vehicles will be shifted to LGR.

If so, isn't LGR strapped as it is for capacity?

And, where does this leave Oshawa?

A story from the GlobeInvestor says that either GM's rear-wheel-drive cars are scrapped, or moved all together from Canada to plants in Michigan. According to the report, GM has scrapped plans of the RWD Chevrolet Impala. While this may come as a surprise to some, Lutz hinted just a few weeks back that a front-wheel-drive Impala seemed likely due to better MPG compared to a rear-wheel-drive Impala.
General Motors of Canada Ltd. spokesman Stew Low said yesterday that no vehicle beyond Camaro was ever approved, "so you can't cancel something that wasn't there."

Lansing was running near capacity when sales of all three Sigma products were hot, but my guess would be that it's now underutilized.

In a very uncomfortable and unattractive position, given the value of the US dollar.

Wasn't Hamtramck also under consideration for Zeta production at one point a few years ago?

What does that do for F5's price when it hits? Will GM just soak it up or will they bump the price to cover the difference in currency?

I guess the F5 is camaro? Nothing they can do. It will fail if it's not competitively priced with the Mustang.

Lansing will be running near capacity once they get both new Zetas and the CTC in '09-10. Of course the SRX moves to Theta so that should help, but between the CTC, CTS, Buick Zeta, Cadillac Zeta. It's looking a bit tight.

I think that the value of the US dollar has much to do with this decision to move work away from Canada.

Hamtramck has been under consideration for a wide range of things, the most recent being they are chosen to produce the next generation of small cars from GM, the Volt included.

So that means Oshawa gets the Camaro and presumably the Impala if it stays on W-Body.

Maybe they'll move production to Mexico.
