3. Amen to that, no more SUVs. There's enough, just offer more options if they want to diversify.

4. PT Cruisers make me cry because they makeme realize what people are into when it comes to cars nowadays.

BTW, if it sounds like I am an old school muscle car advocate reactionary, I'm only 19 and I do like some of the new stuff thats been coming out. The Crossfire has my attention as well as the new 300 (mostly because it looks like a Bentley ). The Magnum looks kinda goofy but I guess it would be a cool family car. But good God GM! You guys gotta do better than that. With Dodge and Chrysler now in the mix, you are going to have to do more that add ANOTHER SUV to the line. Geez...
1. GM's design team did what they were assigned to do, and did a decent job. If there is any issue, it's with the idea of the HHR. Design Team: REHIRED!

2. SSR is a cool little machine. I questioned the wisdom of the thing, but it's a great piece of advertizing & is actually selling very well. Inefficient production wasn't what led to Camaro's demise. There were plenty of reasons, but if you want to put a finger on just one thing: there wasn't a chassis to base a new Camaro on.

3. I'm probally the most anti-SUV guy on the site. But I put the HSR (along with the Equinox, Vibe, and even the Trailblazer and Aviator in a totally different class than the Tahoe, Suburban, and Expedition. I have never seen a reason why people must buy those things unless they move large quanities of people and equptment off road. More people we can get out of them and into Magnums & Crossovers, the better off we car drivers will be.

4. PT Cruisers are nice vehicles. They are nothing more than Minivans with unique styling. If someone put a gun to my head, & made me buy a minivan, it'd be the PT. Chrysler predicted they'd sell 80,000 per year. The ended up peaking at over 300,000! They still steadily sell over 100,000 per year.

GM is on a roll. Unfortunately, the way GM operates, it takes years to get any new vehicle through the pipeline. Bob Lutz has been at GM for almost 2 years and the 1st car done completely on his watch still hasn't come out yet, and won't for at least another year and a few months.

General Motors is a business first and foremost just like other car companies. This means they either make money & close up shop. Those HHRs (just like SUVs) are what pays for performance cars, which like it or not do NOT typically make lots of money.

Another fine example of GM's inability to react quickly. This vehicle should have been out 2-3 years ago to start stealing PT Cruiser's sales. I'm really starting to wonder if it's simply impossible for an automaker as large as GM to be both the biggest and the most innovative.

Just because you're the biggest apparently doesn't make you a leader.

Does the HHR count as a truck in the CAFE numbers? If they really sold 100,000 of these, then maybe GM could come out with a real silverado SS.

NO! NO! NO! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!

Some people need to either stop making quick decisions or stop making slow ones.

That thing...

Little bit Durango
Little bit PT Cruiser
A whole lot of a GM mistake, IMO.

Of course, it is done up in camo, so maybe the real deal will look a whole lot better, but man...I do not have high hopes for this one.

We'll see.

Is that a cross between a PT Cruiser and Mini-Van or what?

So I guess you won't exactly be the 1st in line to buy one, Jason?

As you point out, I think we'll need to hold judgement till it comes out. However, I was dead set against the idea of the Chevy SSR till I started seeing the thing on the streets intermingled with other vehicles. I did a 180 on my opinion of them.

does anyone else think it's funny that the ad running down the right side of the page is for a PT Cruiser convertible? it really is pretty hard to tell the two apart.

maybe they can call it PT Copy, or PT Counterfeit, or PT Imitator.
