...and your 2003 Inianapolis 500 Pace Car is.....
Fellas, I found out first hand over spring break that there is aucutally a market for this cruck. My uncle who restores 50's trucks (to perfection, amazing body work) was going ape-**** over how cool they were. He's about 45 years old and said all the guys he works with at the steel mill want one badly.
.......sell every one of them.......at a markup too.
GM has a history of not equipping the initial models with the higher horsepower engines and saving that for the second or third year "model re-excitement" sales..........I'd be surprised if the LS6 doesn't find it's way into the third year model.....

They'll sell every 1 to people who just gotta have new crazy looking cars like that as soon as they come out. Then they'll have something else in a year or 2 when no1 really wants them anymore.

Don't forget that a Olds Bravada paced it in 2001 I think. The Aztek paced at Daytona. Sad times we live in indeed. How about having a CTS or a new Grand Prix pace it instead of a SSR? The only problem with the SSR is that it simply is a pointless vehicle to make. Chevy already has a halo vehicle.
BTW, I saw the new Grand Prix at a display that GM has in downtown Ft. Worth for the race weekend. Very impressive. I'm certainly going to considering it once I get out of college.

Yes, I distinctly remember an Aztek pacing a major race a year or two ago.
People snickered because it needed to be modified by Pontiac to run safely. What Aztek had to do with motorsports is anyone's guess.

Anyways, my $0.02, I think the SSR is cool. Don't want one, not gonna get one, rather have a muscle car... but it's kinda cool looking.

Course, those are 1989 facts, and I wouldn't doubt there's been another stock car to pace the field. I think that's kinda a mute argument.
