This is ridiculous, strangely intriguing, yet all true. A Hemi Cherokee with a 6 speed is on the way!

Kind of REALLY makes you wonder not only what a Hemi powered Charger R/T sedan or police car will do , but where did they find these guys, and how do we get ahold of some of 'em!

Why do I get visions of Hi-Po SUV rolling over onto their roofs in turns when I see things like this?

Quote from the page:
" With an estimated 353 horsepower and 353 lb. ft.of torque the new Hemi is definitely up to the task (in comparison, the LS1 V8 used in the Corvette puts out 345 hp and 350 lb. ft of torque). The Hemi will be mated to a high performance 6-speed manual transmission. "

I would imagine they'd include 450HP or more in that thing to call it Corvette / Cobra R stomper.

I can already tell that this thing will by no means walk Corvette, neither in straight line acceleration nor in handling. The thing puts out only 8 HP and 3 lb/ft of torque more. The thing weighs anywhere from 3950 lbs for V6 model to over 4300 lbs for V8 with gadgets.

Unless it goes on a diet and loses 800 to 1200 pounds, it will not even stand a chance against Mustang GT or LT1.

Problem is, idiots will THINK it's faster, just like my retarded neighbor who told me his Excursion would "smoke any Vette, cause it has a V10."

I told him, "Only if it's in Park."

Its going to take alot more than 353hp for a Jeep to even touch a Vette.

They better bring a lot more to the table than 353 HP in a 4000 pound truck. Isn't it ironic that this rumor comes out now, while Chevy builds the 400+ HP TT Trailblazer. Guess which comapny is more likely to build the ultimate go-fast SUV.

Step 1- Start brand new Cherokee HEMI R/T

Step 2- Rev engine to 4500 rpm

Step 3- Dump cluth using all wheel drive mode

Step 4- Turn head as you achieve a sick *** launch VR4 style and then see the Corvette catch up in the quarter with you barely winning.

Yeah, I can see it happening. But on a side note, as they going to make the turbo TrailBlazer? That would be one sweet machine.

Burmite - you forgot a step:

Step 5 - Pull in soon for gas, we're on "E" again!

This part from the page is good for a laugh:

Last year Buzz Watch reported that Jeep was planning to drop the awesome new 5.7 liter HEMI into the Grand Cherokee. My source told me that the goal of the ultra high performance Jeep Grand Cherokee "Sport" package is to create a Jeep capable of stomping ANY vehicle on the road.

Notice that I didn't say SUV, that's because the engineers have created a package that they believe will be able to whip a Mustang "R" or a Corvette. With an estimated 353 horsepower and 353 lb. ft.of torque the new Hemi is definitely up to the task (in comparison, the LS1 V8 used in the Corvette puts out 345 hp and 350 lb. ft of torque). The Hemi will be mated to a high performance 6-speed manual transmission.
Apparently the writer is unaware of Z06 Corvettes and 2003 Cobra's...

This hooey about AWD performance vehicles goes on and on. Tell me, why isn't NHRA, CART, NASCAR, F1, et. al. making the move to AWD? Simple - it's not the FASTEST way to travel. Driveline losses and extra weight kill the traction advantage in most real races. Go ahead, I'll spot you the jump, chump. A hi-po SUV suffers two fatal flaws: obscene curb weight (due partly to the extra gears and shafts) and barn door aerodynamics. I hope DCX brings out this SUV, and also hope the TT TrailBlazer makes it to showrooms. But calling them 'kings of the road' makes me chuckle.

AWD cars like the DSM and Galant AWD seem to understeer too much anyway... not the best way to go in my opinion.

(Edit: Accidentally typed "Eclipse AWD" instead of "Galant AWD")

That, or Daimler Chrysler is putting in a 200 shot on nitrous, part of the "sport" package.

then a second "rice" package includes the body kit, GTR spoiler, and stickers.

Then they will have a third "bling bling" package, which gives 20" chrome wheels, black on black, tinted windows all around,

Nope, this won't be happening. Corvette will pass this thing at the 1/8 mile mark, if not sooner.

This thing weighs around 1000 lbs more than Corvette. It will be around 1.5 seconds slower in the 1/4 mile, so if corvette is in high 12's, this Jeep will be around mid to low 14's.
