XLR is soon the be the oldest Cadillac in the lineup.
First off, with the CTS all new in and out, SRX getting an all new interior, STS getting the Chinese interior SLS, and the Lade's new lay out...the XLR will be in dire need of a new interior, something that follows along the lines of the new interiors of the other cars. I would also like to see the Z51 sourced brake system as STANDARD on the XLR, and the XLR-V gets the Z06 spec 6/4 piston systems. A Sixteen style grill would help bring it into the modern A&S design. How about using more aluminum body pannels and even the roof? I dont know if it is yet, but the adaptive headlighting should be trickled down to the base model as well. Id like to see more roadster-cool featuers. The SLK has a heating system with vents within the seats that shoots warm air around your neck and upper body when the top is down.
XLR will be Cadillac's oldest car soon?
Just goes to show you just how fast the automotive world is moving now.
Save the Saturn Ion, I can't think of any General Motors cars that's older than the XLR or that hasn't even been reskinned.

Not to steal the thunder of this thread...but what other cars in GM's line up need a little sprucing up?
Id like to see the Nox and the Colorado get some revised noses to fit in with the new SUV/Truck style. Colorado could also use a new interior design, would make for a good MCE for 2008 along with the 900 Trucks. Id like to see a Tahoe type front end on the Nox with the smoked headlights, the whole deal.
How about a little redo of the Vettes interior now that GM seems to be getting the hang of desiging some really nice looking stuff? I like the Vettes interior, but its still the weak link in the car. A little more modern design for an MCE, could be cool.

I think the XLR just needs a new interior, new grill, and new headlights. The rest of the car is dead sexy.
XLR, Colorado, and Grand Prix. All out in 2003 as 2004 models. Everything older will be new in 2008. Isn't 07 the last year for the Ion

Is that "safe" to assume?
Not taking away anything from XLR. It's just amazing that it seems like only a short time ago the car came out, and now save Grand Prix & Ion, is the oldest non-retouched car in GM's lineup.
2007 model year is indeed Ion's last, and apparently Grand Prix won't be around a full model year once 2007MY passes.
And I think that is not only amazing but a great thing. GM is finally waking up enough to see that models just can't rot until rebates won't move them. Consistent and constant improvement will drive new sales AND bring in new buyers. That means the future is looking better, if they can keep up the new momentum.
The XLR needs help imo . It was cool the first couple years , but the hard lines and boxy slab sided body need to go . I was looking at few XLR's at a local dealer that sell chevy and caddy and while the inside looked upscale as far as materials go , its almost embarrasingly out of style and plain . Im sure Caddy will rectify all that with its next redesign , but right now ...imo , if ya gotta have a caddy vert , its there .
I thought the monteray red/cashmiere C6 vert they had parked next to the XLR's was sexier in every way .
