Now that you have seen the Torana, would you wait a year or two fot a Camaro on the same platform. Lets assume the Zeta car we think is Camaro gets a new name and is marketed as Chevy's GTO. Then a year or two they bring out a Camaro on the long Kappa platform. I love the idea...we get the car we were supposed to (just with a different name)...and we get a much more proper...and lighter Camaro. Plus a GTO and Camaro should never be mentioned in the same sentence when talking size...no matter how much nip and tuck is done. I also really think we will will see a small Pontiac sedan of this platform too....the "mystery Pontiac"..

Well, all I've got to say is.....I'm waiting for a ponycar. GM could release a Chevy GTO tomorrow...and I'd still be waiting for my ponycar.

PS

I'm not so convinced it would need to be delayed a year or two.

Why would one assume that they would have to wait longer?

Kappa is a dwarf-sized Corvette in many respects.

Maybe the new extended Kappa can?

This is a new medium RWD architecture that Bob Lutz spoke about in Paris. It is only loosely based on Kappa. It has a hydroformed tube structure like Kappa and Y-car. It shares some basic suspension components with Kappa also. It'll fit a twin turbo HF V6..so I'm pretty sure a Gen IV smallblock will fit.
It appears that it can package a relatively roomy interior inside a tidily dimensioned body too. Did I mention that GM needs a Chevy to make Kappa (or Kappa variants), viable?

From my perspective...I'd rather have my Camaro based on this, rather than the sedan platform the "Chevy Coupe" is based on.

I'm not convinced that we would need to wait past 07 for a extended kappa. I put "yes" since I won't purchase a brand new car the first year it is out. I wait till year two or three so any little bugs are gone and as we've seen with the GTO, power goes up

I think the "mystery pontiac" will be something alot more exciting than a sedan. I would expect the unexpected. Looks to me like the General has decided to take the gloves off.

Thumbs up Re: Would you wait an extra year or two for an extended Kappa Camaro?

I have time...

Kappa? Zeta? It really doesn't matter too much to me. As long as it has good looks (matter of taste, of course...), V8, RWD. Just like the previous generations.

I think that now that I have seen this chassis, and can see how big it is...I now support this chassis as the next Camaro.
You think GM will put a hi-po version of teh 3.6 in the Camaro, or will they just slap in a 3.9?

Looks like 3/4 are willing to wait longer for the "right" Camaro rather than get any Camaro sooner.

I came around because somewhere, someone posted the size of the car, and its just about the same size as the G35 sedan... not the coupe.
