Um, the Cobalt SS's displacement is like 122, not 100. 100 is 1.6L, the SS is 2.0L.

I miss the days when engines had their displacement and factory horsepower on the air filter. That was cool. Although, I don't like having to say that my friend has a "Chevelle Ess Ess Three Ninety Six Three Seventy Five" in order to describe his car. I like the current Chevy engine monikers (LS1, LS2, etc), but people outside the GM world don't know what they mean. Something more meaningful would be nice. Most people these days don't know how to equate inches with liters, and most cars are advertised/marketed using liters, so let's go with that.

I liked the first-gen markings like SS 396. I'd want to see it modernized, though. Maybe it should be marked in liters. I like the 5.7 and 6.0 liters on the trunklid of the GTOs.

Put the liters of displacement on the back of the car, and put the displacement in CID on or in the engine bay. The Viper has v10 505 written right by the intake. Looks pretty badass to me.

What about putting the c.i., and other performance badging in a small in expensive package to check on the option box if the buyer so pleases?

I'd be interested in it only if there were more than one engine option for the SS.

Otherwise - why bother.

"HEMI" didn't exist anymore in terms of marketplace standing either - until DCX brought it back with GREAT success a couple of years ago.

V8s, yes. The metric designations don't suit a musclecar.
Fours and sixes, nah. "180 c. i." won't impress anyone.

Give the V8's the displacement designations in cubic inches. People still like cool little details and badges on their cars just like they did 30-40 years ago. I know I would like it. It adds character as cars are fairly generic through models/lines these days.

I don't know, the old GTO's with the 6.5 liter badging always looked cool to me.

But I agree, 122 Cu In. would look silly on a SS Cobalt.

Not to bust your bubble...but the FIRST muscle car did have metic designation under its name.... Just a reminder.

I can't believe that so many people are stupid enough to want C.I.D. returned to car badges.

The rest of the free world measures engine displacement in liters. No wonder the euros make fun of us and think we're a bunch of uncivilized nitwits.

Who gives a fu** about the Europeans? Let them do their thing, and us ours. Heck, we take pride in the fact we use a whole different measuring system than the rest of the world.

And perhaps the Europeans think less of us, because instead of us making our cars our way, we are always too busy trying to make our cars someone elses way. Besides, anyone who believes we are uncivilized nitwits due to the way we badge our vehicles needs to stop and ponder just who the nitwit is.

I always liked how the 02 GMMG ZL1 cars had 427 written on the side. It should be a designation written somewhere on all of the v8 cars.

I couldn't care less what the Europeans think of us - cars, society, politics, whatever. If I did care, I'd be over their living it up in their socialistic society.

No thanks.
