Worst Tag Lines Ever List...

Mercury- The Shape You Want to be In

right....

Pontiac- Fuel for the Soul

[I]For some reason this makes me wonder if the Pontiac dealer throws in a plate of spaghetti and meatballs[I]

Chevy- We'll Be there

They started using this years ago...and I can say sadly they still aren't here

Ford- Quality is Job One

Maybe in the 80's what is it now?......Job 15 or 16?

Cadilac-The Fusion of....yada yada yada

huh

Dodge-Try the new Dodge!

This gets stale after 5-6 years..how long can something be new without becoming old?

Lincoln-American Luxury

Using this logic Americans want big slow rebadged Ford's??

Anyone have any others?

I think Ford's current line, "If you haven't looked at Ford lately, look again" smacks of desperation. It's like they're saying, "yeah we sucked before, but we think we're better now".

Guess again.

i think that "look again" line for fords is lame and having randy newman sing in the commercials just makes it worse.i'm a randy newman fan,he's fine singing about how he hates short people but, when you're selling cars on TV,you need a singer that can really move you,get you going.i love the james brown ads for pontiac, and i LOVE the fuel for the soul tagline.i remember when the new for '93 Z28 ads came out, with hendrix playing in the background, and the Z sliding across the screen,FREAKIN' AWESOME!
BMW has the best tagline,"ultimate driving machine",it's cocky and they can back it up,a car tagline needs alittle arrogance and swagger, not some "please look again" crap.VW also has a great tagline,"drivers wanted".

The Chrysler "Drive = Love" was the nerdiest tag line in Automotive history.

Pontiac had "Driving Excitement" but whenever I looked at the Aztek I thought "Styling Excrement"

The Chevy "We'll be there" slogan fits with their supposed dependable image they keep pushing. It isn't very inspiring though, especially on the Camaro page at chevy.com..."Camaro, We'll be there"

Never understood "Have you driven a Ford lately?" Why no, I haven't, what's your point???

Awww, dude, i LOVE that tag line! C'mon. You know cars have to equal passion. This tagline makes the connection that a car is much more than a device to get to point a from point b. It exuberates the passion of a car that feeds your soul

And what the hell are you thinking saying stuff like this. So soul = fried chicken and greens...

You sure aren't winning many people over on this board lately. With rationale like this, it's no wonder people jump on everything you say. If you see yourself working professionaly in some kind of press/news capacity, you better get your head striaght.

fuel=food....food for soul=soul food

Soul food is fried chicken and greens among other things?...least in the south that is what soul food restaurants sell.

How is that offenive?

People need to not read too much into things...makes life alot more stressful then it is

AS for winning people over I could care less...changing my opinion on say........ that buying a hardtop Camaro is dumb because it has low resale sale value...to something every one on the board likes would be wrong or selling out.

As for me being a professional journalist or whatever you said I need to get my head straight on....I have a regualr job that pays me pretty well and only do GMI as a hobby. Thus I have no desire, nor am I pursuing GMI as a carer

i am just realizing how funny this stuff is, and to think that some executive spent his nites up late thinking about these and had to present them in some big meeting, and they all passed, what kind of operation are they running here!!!! j/k but those really aren't good, for lines i have always thought of dodge=power/torque/mopar/viper chevy=speed/camaro/z06 ford=shelbymustangs/cobra ford really dropped the ball, if your not thought of as having high torque cars (dodge) or speed (chevy) then what are you?

Agreed.

I think Pontiacs current ad campaign is very nice.

How about "Buy a little freedom, get a Yugo."

Remember at the time the former Yugoslovia was still communist, so this was quite a contradiction.

I'm getting way tired of Mazda's
Zoom Zoom Zoom commercials.

Chevy's "Like a Rock" is really starting to **** me off too.
