going to be huge? It IS huge

Yea, those things have been selling horribley ever since 2001. From when I bought mine, in three months the car lost half its value
I ended up being able to sell it for $14K to a dealership which was about $10K less than what I paid for it only a 15 months earlier. Right now there seems to be a wall around $12K thats hard for these cars to get under, but they get there quick.

And Meccadeth...I can't believe you paid over 20K for one of those
I don't know you but you seem to make a lot of sense in many of your replies that I've read. Even with state and federal rebates, they're not worth it considering the cheaper / better cars you can get for half the price. I wouldn't mind having a hybrid...if I commuted over 50 miles every day.

The Honda Insight is what happens when progressive thinking gets out of hand so that practicality and excitement get tossed out the window.
However the new hyrid Accord and the older hybrid Civic are great, practical cars. If only someone would make hybrid that drives the right frigging set of wheels (hint, hint Honda - the ones out back, just as the God of automotive mechanics intended it), has 2 doors and muscle car looks!
Dream daily driver = 200?? Camaro... 3000 lb curb weight, V8 with direct fuel injection, cylinder deactivation, full VVT (camless computer controlled valve train with intake and exhaust events optimized accross entire RPM range for great power and low emissions) rated @ 350 / 350 HP/TQ (+100/100 HP/TQ from lightweight, ultra efficient (as much as motor / generator can be) 4th generation regenerative braking / electric motor assist) whilst knocking down 60+ mpg in mixed driving
. Certified as a super ultra low emissions vehicle.

I remember seeing quite a few of them when I lived in the Washington D.C. area, and there I have seen a couple in RI...and the "environmentalist **** hippies" as one poster called them DO live elsewhere than SF and NY (I'm an environmentalist, and i have yet to go to SF
but as far as sales of the car go, give it a couple years, and then look again at who will be scrambling to get their alternative fuel cars to the market (GM), while the Japanese already have a stranglehold on the segment because they got in on the ground floor.

Oh, and please consider that I live in California, with all its smog laws...its really frustrating for me to hear of engine swaps and other mods online when i couldn't even register a car with a fraction of those modifications.

Re: THe worse selling car is a Hybrid?
The reason it isn't selling is its utter lack of pracality. Most people need something bigger for a daily driver. People who want a weekend/nice day/special car want a sports car, not a penlty box.
