Why isn't anyone talking about Ford's Interceptor Concept?

That is the RWD sedan, based on the next gen Mustang D2C platform which will be at NAIAS next month.

No, that was a completely different 2002 concept. Which I thought was kinda cool.

That looks like a slight rehash of the current Vic.

So then without the 'rumored' info even out, what's to talk about?

Well...............

We can talk about the significance of Ford getting back into the sporty RWD sedan game.

We can talk about the fact that Lincoln might want to be part of this program, possibly with a twin turbo V6.

We can talk about the IRS that this concept may have - the same one that the 10/11 Mustang will ride on.

We can conjecture on which powertrain Ford might pick to go in this concept.

You know, stuff like that.............

Is this Mustang length or have they lengthened it?

Im a little confused. I thought the Mustang platform was very loosely based on the LS. It would seem lengthening it to be a 4 dr would be the same as the next LS or is the Interceptor replacing the LS? If not maybe the cheaper Ford version? If thats the case does that mean the Falcon isnt comming to the US as it would be direct competition or would the Aussie Falcon become a Lincoln LS or a Merc?

Yes the Mustang platform is based on the LS. Its an automotive rule that its easy to take something cheap and make it expensive, but a lot harder to take some thing expensive and make it cheap. Ford decided they couldnt get the price point they wanted without modifying the DC whatever it was called to the point of being something new.

I suppose thats a good thing as price was one of the things that was bad for the LS. Stands to reason car spawned off the mustang chassis will have more flexibility price wise..

I am of course happy about this, but we don't really have enough to speculate from yes.
