Why does Chevy waste money on Nascar
I don't understand why Chevy(or Ford or Chrysler) continues to waste funds on a declining series. The days of a win translating to car sales probably expired in the 80's. Nascar is now about the personalities and kissing Toyota's backside. Seems those millions could be better spent on developing the kind of cars they desperately need to survive. I truly don't see the benefit.

Maybe the location under our S/N' gave it away?
I think NASCAR had awesome intentions but now its a commercialized spectacle. They used to race cars anyone could buy. Show me one Fusion or Camry that can do 200mph from the factory?

I agree with their sentiment, though I understand that something as simple as having the Chevy name crossing the line first can get some recognition out there, as well as give the brand some bragging rights. That being said, I am in no way a fan of NASCAR, and I'm from the south.

Its so far removed from anything stock and car as to be completely irrelavent.

X2 I have never lived outside the state of GA and I can barely stand NASCAR. I have relatives on the other hand who will be watching the race & nothing but the race on Sunday even after NFL season starts. This can make for some really excruciating family gatherings.

I used to get into NASCAR when I was a teen. But back then they used production bodied cars with modified production engines. That was part of NASCAR's action was the teams finding the right body style & engine & suspension mods to make a winner. As such it could've been anyone's race to win if their car had a better set up than everyone else's. Now with generic cars with generic engines, neither of which are representative of what's in the showroom, it's become about, as Robin Williams once put it, the same 4 or 5 guys winning it all the time. To me there's just no entertainment in that.
