While US auto industry implodes, Mexico intros its own Elise-fighter

Wow, wake me up from this bad dream. Our own industry is imploding (or committing suicide, depending on your POV), but Mexico has managed to put together its own Lotus-fighter.

The styling ain't exactly making me randy, but, well, sigh.

I can't remember what mag I read about this in but they thought it was put together pretty crappy from what they could tell. Not that the Elise is the greatest thing in that department either.

Picture 23 of 28 in the link - it looks REALLY bad. I applaud the effort though

$55K US!?!

I'd consider one at half that price, but seriously.

I heard that a hollowed-out dashboard would be an option, just in case you need to smuggle illegal immigrants over the border:

I've seen that before - still wondering which car it was and how big she was - and how they got it together with her in it.

they ripped off styling cues from LOTS of much more expensive cars.

It should be an interesting vehicle.
