Where I am at right now with the C6 front end...
I have odd, conflicting feelings about the C6 front end... I like it... I like it a lot... but just not for a Corvette.... it doesn't scream "CORVETTE!" to me.... it screams something else:
I think I am coming to the conclusion that C6 front clip look would have made a fantastic Camaro front end... the Camaro look is there... pseudo headlamp "pockets", the wide-mouth grille...

You know, that's where I was at first. After seeing the different angles it looks like a corvette to me.
One thing that surprised me was the C6 photochop with the pop-up headlights. Now that looked like a corvette right off the bat! Maybe it's just a matter of getting used to the headlights.

I really can see a cool, clean evolutionary transition from this:

Front end styling, only, of course... Am I goofier than normal??

I like it enough to actually consider buying one.
Seriously. My wife and I are discussing it. But, I would probably have to give up purchasing a 2007 Camaro to do so.

Well, it's not so much liking or disliking I am getting at... more of if the styling would have better fit a fifth generation Camaro over a sixth generation Corvette...

As far as the C6 goes...
Maybe the aftermarket will oblige us? At least someone comming up with a cool looking mesh grill to fill the gap. Or even a real molded insert that helps fill that carp-mouth a bit (wuthout restricting airflow).
Still that quibble aside, I'm digging the new styling overall - now that I'm being bomabarded with C6 images
.
Would be cool on the Camaro perhaps - but again.. it needs something to make the gap less cavernous. At least the 4th gen had a molded insert that could be painted up to look good and boldly spell 'Camaro'.

I think the Camaro cues are there if you chose to see them, but the same things were said about C5 and the '91-92 Firebird back in 1996. Put a C5 and C6 nose to nose and I think the evolution is pretty clear, at least it is to me. And when I go back to archive images of Corvette Concepts from the past, I see hints of many of them in the C6 nose.
Take the Indy Corvette, Stingray III, and C5, blend them together, and you have the C6 front end.
My larger point here is that this hand wringing goes on with every new vette and most enthusiast cars in general. The criticisms of the C5 died down after the first couple of years, and it went from a "love it or hate it" thing to the point now where when the C6 comes out it starts to sound like everyone had a consensus on how great the C5 looked.
Remember all the carping about the C5 looking too much like the RX7? Don't hear much of that now do you? Why, because as time went on and everybody got used to the car, it became very identifiable as a Corvette. Same thing will happen with the C6, history will repeat itself.

I REALLY hate to say this, since I've loved Vettes since I was about 3,and I know I'll get flamed for it,but the new Vette nose, for some reason, makes me think "import" more than it does Corvette. JMO. I don't like it as much as the C5.
I still haven't come up with my full opinion of the c6, first I need to see it in person. I love the side, the front I am growing to like but I dislike the back a lot and the hood.
Darth, I can see it also with very minor touches.

I for one think the C6 front end is a great evolution for the Corvette, and a significant improvement over the C5. I've never warmed up fully to the C5 front end... too round and anonymous... and the C6 has an awesome angular hood and the sharper fenders to go with it. The fixed headlights are well-shaped and unlike the C5, will not look 'dorky' at night.
Yea I could see a 5th Gen Camaro look to this C6 noce. But I can also see it being completly Vette too. Yea it doens't scream CORVETTE but it looks like one. I guess this board kinda spoiled it because for quite some time we've been getting looks and peeks at this car so when it came out if just kinda fit. But for the masses its the kind of style that is a bit one the fence. If you tell everyone this is the new Camaro I could see many people saying yea I see that, tell them its the new Corvette and they say they see that too.
Kinda wierd when I look at the nose I look right through it and see the 6.0L 400hp LS2 resting between the fenders and I think yea its a Vette!
