What types of cars would you like to see GM make that they don't now?
Without using NAMES What TYPES of cars would you like to see GM make that they don't now? We all know everyone wants a RWD, inexpensive pony car type of car, so that one doesn't count.
A) I'd like to see them make an RX8 competitor, with quad doors and a nice V6. The RX8 is a really great car, and I'd buy one except for the poor fuel economy, low power level, and questionable reliability of the rotary engine.
B) Another car is a nice small Diesel Sedan, to compete with the Diesel VW's but without the mediocre quality.
C) I'd also like to see a small, sporty fun to drive (with a manual) hatchback/econobox, which could be a complementary model to B.

Re: What types of cars would you like to see GM make that they don't now?
I think the RX8 niche (i.e. a 4-door premium car with sporty intentions) is pretty small-- not worth GM's effort.
I'll agree with a econo Diesel and a small hatch.
What I'd like to see is a lineup of AWD cars. As the largest producers of automobiles in the world, you'd think they could come up with a series of AWD cars for the masses.

A large luxury sedan to go up against the 7/S/A8 series cars with the V12 option.
a 4dr, rwd/awd V8 sports sedan for high 30's to mid 40's
outside of that, I think there is just about everything from GM. Add thoes 2 cars and the nicely priced 2dr V8 RWD sports car, there is pretty much everything that you could possibly want. There might be things that would be nice to add to all these cars. Things that draw people into the car after they see the car. Quality of interiors are improving, but how about style? GM's days of blobs of plastic are over, and I like the lay out in my Maxx. I took a look at the G6's interior, and its very nice, but its missing some flare. Chrome rings are nice, but there needs to be more to break up the interior colors, and more interior colors. The Solstice's tan and dark grey interior looks great and is very attractive. Same goes with teh GTO and new C6. Improve the cars now and more and more people will come in to teh show rooms. New cars are nice, but keep them up to date and fresh.
...I hate not giving names or at least divisions.

I would also like to see a full-size RWD, V8 powered car. Especially a high performance version. A modern B-Body slightly bigger than the current Impala would be awesome. Also on the same line have a 2-door with a bed model, you know what I am getting at.

B) A diesel grand am would be a huge hit imo.
C) Cobalt?

Re: What types of cars would you like to see GM make that they don't now?
A big (by today's standards), very quick, fast, semi luxury coupe with a manual tranny.... that's rear wheel drive.
It doesn't have to be a V8, it could be a supercharged or turbo V6, if it made the car accelerate at LS2 levels.
After that, an AWD subcompact coupe with a turbo.
Finally, a rear drive sedan with either a LS2 V8 or a turbocharged 6 (like a certain company 'down under' has).

I've also driven a Miata and I enjoyed my CRX much more, even without having a convertible top. I would love to get another Si eventually for a daily driver, but the newest one I could possibly find now would be 13 years old! Perhaps GM should look into a small, lightweight (under 2200 lbs), two-seater car with an Ecotec, 5 or 6 speed tranny, and an emphasis on handling. Keep it very simple (my CRX didn't even have power steering, and I never missed it).
