What should the next Mustang Cobra be called?

Looks like the Cobra name will be moving to the Shelby 2 seater. What should Ford call the '06 successor to the Mustang Cobra?

Well considering SVT are the guys that put the cobra out, it will be an SVT Cobra, doesn't make sense for a "Cobra" to be called something else...

Where's my who cares option?

If it has 500 HP, it'd make sense to call it a GT500 I suppose...even though the original "500" didn't refer to horsepower.

It took me awhile to get used to the "Mustang Cobra" name. I mean it's two different animals in one name. A mammal and a reptile, no less.

Actually, my understanding is that Ford threw the Cobra name on the SVT Mustang because the copyrights for "Cobra" were a about to expire.

I could live with simply "SVT Mustang"....however GT350 has a soft spot for me too.

How about 'Boss'?

Or "Still not as fast as anything in GM's stable"?

I think there are some legal issues with the name "BOSS" and the Shinoda family.

I think they should have a GT350 and a GT500. The GT350 could be lighter weight with a smaller engine, and with more emphasis on handling and balance. The GT500 could be more of a monster. 500 hp and plenty of options.

Kind of the same way I view a Z28 and an SS.

If the horsepower numbers are off again could we call it 'Mustang II'?

Well, let's see...

Shelby originally built the Cobra, and then made the GT350 and GT500 Mustangs... then he left, and the Mustang King Cobra came without him... then a GT350 model... then later the Mustang Cobra....

Now, he's back, is going to use Cobra on a car built is association with Ford, and now SVT might use the GT350 and GT500 names without him, or perhaps with him...

Hmmmm.,... well... ya, that is certainly a clear picture!

How quickly people forget a 390 HP Mustang Cobra that has blasted any Camaro to date out of the water. Amazing.

Let's keep that trend going.. we'll call it a Mustang Turtle

I voted to just keep it Mustang Cobra, the top model of Mustang has been Cobra for 11 years now, why change it?
