Back in Black is what has come to mind as well, but ...

No theme song, yet, just a faint hearbeat that builds as the car approaches. Fade in some engine sound underneath the hearbeat, car comes into view, and stops, heartbeat stops with a 360 around the car.

Save a theme song for later after the design has captured the emotions and imagination.

With Caddy, the designs were obviously modern. Using a classic rock song made sense in that regard. If Camaro comes out obviously retro inspired, let the design speak for itself. Pure visual emotion, complimented by more subliminal type sounds, roar of V8, heartbeat, silence.

Not sure if that idea would work for women as well ... since they are not as visual supposedly. A theme song based one, should probably target women, and show the fun and companion nature of the car. Something like Soak up the Sun, Give a Little Bit (of your Love to me).

 

Since Aerosmith is already used for Buick, how about using Sweet Emotion for a possible Camaro theme song? Then they can say, Aerosmith, the official band of an American Revolution

 

Saliva - "Click Click BOOM"

With scenes of somebody driving the Camaro - 1/4 mile starts, finishes, and some oval track scenes...

Could be cool if done right, specially with some cool camera work like shifting and showing the driver shift hard on the "BOOM" part of the lyrics. I dunno...

 

It doesn't matter what WE want, some idiot in an ad agency will pick a Kelly Clarkson tune to appeal to a feminine market.

I think DCX used a rap remix of it for the Charger commercials, but Nazareth's Hair of the Dog would be a perfect song. A very recognizeable guitar riff, and hey, if you mess with the Camaro, you're messin' with sonofabitch.

 

Alot of good ideas. I'm getting all fired up. I can't wait. Why even pay an ad co.? They can get a whole years worth of ads right here! Hair of the dog is good, Sweet emotion BIB, TNT. I could see it now, 2 boneheads at a light, in their Mustang, practically falling asleep with boredome. When all of the sudden their eyes open wide, as they hear a faint sound, as it get louder & louder...Cuz I'm, TNT, I'm dynomite...TNT. As the Camaro ripes away from the light leaving them at the light. The passenger in the Mustang looks at the driver and says, man I'm glad I waited, I gotta get me one of those!!! They are Dynomite! Hair of the dog could work nicely too, now your messin' with a... SOB. BIB could work real good. Please Chevy, anything but journey!

 

I like Journey, but I'll agree that it wouldn't be right in a Camaro commercial. I also think that its a huge mistake to put the Mustang in any of their commericals. You don't want your competitor's car to compete for attention with your car.

 

That wouldn't be bad for an SS or Z/28 commercial, but for the base Camaro... it should be a song for the "masses".


Hey, I have an idea... what if GM get's a modern-day group to redo the Cyrkle's Camaro song from the 60's? Greenday would be interesting.

 

First one that came to my mind as well was Back in Black, that would be f*cking sinister

Definitely some other great ones as well, "Boom" from P.O.D would be cool too, but Back In Black would make for a KILLER tune to that commercial, with a black Z coming out through a cloud of smoke, and just ripping through the gears, oooooooooooo

Nothing gives Mustang owners bad dreams like a 400hp Camaro Z28.


Begining of the song shows a line of Camaros from first to 4th gens..and every time the bass hits, it flashes a picture of some part of the 5th gen, tied into a part on one of the other 4 generations, like going to the tails of a 72, and then flashing the circle tail lights of the 5th gen, and then when the song finaly hits, just a front shot with the Camaro emblem on the nose...

Something about having Nightmares and horses and mustangs just all go together so well.

 

Or a ~"300"hp Camaro from 1998 to 2001

 

I would like bad to the bone, you could have the camaro at the line when the song starts, go through a montage of older camaro photos, and when you hit the chorus "baaaad to the bone", the camaro smokes the tires and they show it running like a 12.8 quarter mile.
