Re: What GTO would you rather have?

Voted for the 2005 GTO.

The Autocross and the so-called "Judge" look like it took a visit to a Honda speed shop for ground effects.

The AutoCross looks like the tuner buyer was on a strict budget.

The so-called "Judge" looks like that aftermarket buyer had access to a reputable body shop and a few more dollars in his account.

The '05 GTO actually looks like it was designed by adults at a major auto company, and not a group of 17 year old Honda owners after school.

Is that the same way you feel about the orange one from Woodward?

I voted for the Judge like most others. I'm surprised that the regular '05 is beating out the Autocross, though.

Are those rear brake vents on the Judge supposed to functional?

Re: What GTO would you rather have?

Is there a real pic of this "autocross" version around? Of the options listed, I'll take the Orange Woodward car hands down. Looks badass (and it looked that way in person, too). Doesn't look at all like rice to me Rice kits look tacked on or look too overwrought (samurai-ish?) with lots of slots and curves and multiple planes etc. That orange GTO looks very mature and muscular to me for the most part, and the wide-body fenders make me all tingly inside (like they did on the 600 hp C5R-engined blue Camaro of recent Woodward fame). *wipes drool from chin* My $0.02.

Personally, I'd rather have a Black Tiger...

Here's a real pic of the autox goat. Fell in love with this one.

Re: What GTO would you rather have?

That looks good, too. But not enough to make me change from the orange car. In fact, the lower ground effects on that car are more tacked-on looking by far (but still not bad). That just looks like a lightly modified (I won't say riced) stock car, and it looks good for the most part. IMO.

But the wide-body orange car looks like a totally different animal.

I like the Woodward GTO car, I think it looks pretty hot. I think it shows very clearly how a GTO proportioned, Zeta based, future 5th gen Camaro coupe could be pulled off while sharing a body structure with the GTO. But, though the grille & bulging body panels add to the appearence and "presence" (without being 74"wide and longer than an Impala ) the color of the car is a big chunk of the appeal.

But, jawzforlife did a very very fair thing in performing this poll. He put all 3 cars in identical coloring and forced us to look at the design of the add-on, tacked on items without being swayed by the color or trim (though alot of you are despite that).

Paint the '05 GTO the same burnt orange & blackout scheme from the Woodward GTO, & add the same rims, and park it next to a bland stock GTO (instead of the Woodward version), and half of you would think it's a different car.

If there was a way to set up all 3 cars in the Woodward GTO's color scheme, with all the anti-ricers that seem to be here, I suspect the results might be just a wee bit different.

Re: What GTO would you rather have?

Hmmm, I'm not sure which way to vote. I do like certain elements of the Woodward/Judge(?) GTO. However, the side scoops gotta go. I'm also ambivalent about the spoiler and the oversized 79 TA exhaust splitters. I just don't think they work that well with the rear valence/diffuser. Besides, it looks like it wouldn't take much of a speed bump or any kind of bump to cause some damage to them. "Normal" straight exhast tips may work better.

On the plus side, I do like the hood scoops/functional intakes, the buldging fenders and the more agggressive front end as well. You can't argue with either the bigger footprints or the power increase.

So, I guess I'm voting (or not, since the option isn't there:-) for the '05 GTO with the caveats noted above - if given the choice, otherwise the 05, as it stands.

Re: What GTO would you rather have?

guionM: Fair, perhaps, but the silver colored cars appear to be a conceptual rendering, and they don't adequately show the modifications in true light. Chuck posted a pic of the "autox" car in red (vs. the :blah: grey rendering, which I commented on above your post. Paint them all that orange color, and they'd all look good. But a big part of what makes the orange car look good (to me, at least) is the wider fenders, and the correspondingly wider wheels they allow. You could put the same style wheels on the other cars, but they would stick out way too far if you put the same exact wheels on (style and size).

BTW, I wouldn't turn any of them down. I think the stock GTO is a dang nice looking car, and I see where you are coming from in your original post. I just think the orange car looks too mean to pass up, and it does so without looking ricey at all. I thought the same thing about the widebody Camaro in blue. Paint it black, orange, red, whatever, those fenders just look strong for some reason.
