That's not a California-wide price. San Francisco usually has the highest fuel prices (and everything else) in the country.

When I first moved there from Hawaii I saw the fuel prices and said WTF!

Maybe someone here who's grown up in the Bay Area can explain it, cause I can't.

Trivia tid-bit: Even though all fuel in Honolulu Hawaii has to be imported over long distances, Gas prices there are hardly ever the most expensive in the US, and at times is actually far cheaper than California!

I can remember just a few years ago when premium got just below a $1. Gas these days sucks. I support the war, but I don’t see why gas prices have gone crazy like this. Nothing major has really even happened yet. Can someone explain why gas prices have sky rocketed?

San Francisco prices have been higher than the rest of the bay area for years. Basically its because the dealers know they have San Franciscan's trapped to where they'd have to drive great distances to get cheaper prices.

What doesn't make sense is in the eastbay where I live its only 15-20¢ cheaper... and I'm less than 5 miles from several refinieries. Then I drive down to see my kid in southern California at its sometimes as much as 50-95¢ cheaper... with no refineries for hundreds of miles!

Supply and demand I guess.

A lot of it is just out of aticipation for war, I don't expect the bulk of the war to last for much more than a month, after that prices should start dropping, they need to hurry up in get it over with already.

Also the problems in Venezuela are a mojor contributer to the price hike.

The extremely cold winter in the North east has also caused supplies of fuel oil to drop

on a plus the Saudis "promise" that the world will not run short of oil in the event of a war with Iraq.

I usually go to Costco in Richmond, and regular is 1.98 a few days ago. Other places around the area is about 2.04. I just got back from Arcadia (near Pasaden/LA) to collect my '94 Vette I bought last weekend, and that place is also hovering at around the 1.99 mark for a 76 station. The local (ARcadia) Chevron and Shell were 20+ cents more for the regular stuff. Alas, my '94 Vette takes 91RON fuel. When I get the ultra-buzz of driving the Vette out of my system (say a couple of months), I'm going to start riding my Kawaski Vulcan to work.

Why is this posted in here? What do gas prices have to do with a future F Body????? Or could this just be some ploy to rack up someones post count.

I think it's safe to say if prices continue to go up, you'll see less interest in gas-sucking V8 sports cars. That seems relevant enough. Besides, who cares how many posts you have??

biodiesel comes from fast food fat, food waste, oils from frying, etc.. It smells like french fry's when you drive around with it..

I wouldn't call the Z28 a gas-sucking V8 sports cars,
2002 Z28 gets 19 city 28hwy.
2003 G35 V6 20 city 27hwy.
2004 Mazda RX8 18 city 23hwy.
2004 GTP S/C V6 18 city 28hwy.
2002 S2000 I4 2600lbs. 20 city 26hwy.

as you can see the V8 camaro is better or just as good as most V6 cars, plus it puts out way more power.

for the record the 405HP Z06 gets the same milage as a 2002 Z28 with the six speed

Its around $1.73 for 93 here in Orlando on average. At Sam's club, Costco, ect.. it is about $1.65 for 93.
