What do you really want from the 5th Gen?

I like the thought of a mid level V8. The 5th gen would be great if the mid level was a mid 20grand car that had a T56 and a strong rear end. It would be great if they made the engine easily modified and easy to work on. Maybe a 5.3 from the trucks, ls1?? Even an LT1 with a revised ignition!!! Also I don't want some concept looking crap. I want a camaro that looks like a muscle car!!! I think if gm made a camaro like this it would sell like crazy (at least compared to the 4th gens). I'd buy one if i liked the look.

Why would anyone want an LT1 or LS1 for that matter?

Come again???

Even though I'm one of the first ones to say that the LT1 is/was one awesome engine, why in the world would GM take a couple of steps back with that?

If you do some reading on the past couple weeks of posts you'll find mounds of info on the 5th gen and what people would like to see.

I know they won't put an LT1 in it. I'm just saying Gm needs to make and affordable version that people can make fast if they want and make them easy to work on. But i'm sure Gm will some stupid looking car that will be $35,000 and will be just as slow as the GTO.

Re: What do you really want from the 5th Gen?

Even if it were possible, why would GM retrofit the LT-1 or even the LS-1 in any new Camaro, errr, Chevrolet Performance Coupe produced 3-4 years from now? A better question is why would you even want them to use engines that they themselves at that point in time no longer produce for new vehicles? Besides, any new engine will likely be LS-2 based (so I guess that makes it LS-1 related in any event).... Better check out the many related threads...

You know that the "slow" GTO is faster than that LT1 you are wishing for in a new Camaro.... right???

2004 GTO 0-60 is 5.3 seconds.... or right in line with the last of the F-Bodies. Quite fast indeed.
2005 GTO 0-60 is 4.6 seconds... or just plain ridiculously fast....

The main objective to build the car would be to make an affordable, quick coupe. But there probably would still be a higher luxury mid $30s version.

and I wouldnt consider the GTO,a car capable of low 13s stock, to be slow

Yeah, you just wait till the LS2 GTO comes out, wont be so "slow" any more.

The only thing I want from a 5th Gen is a Firebird.

Seriously though, I'd like a HUD, remove that hump, maybe shorten the car, non-retro. That's all I can think of at the moment. Wait, that keyless thing that the Corvette does is kind of neet.

Re: What do you really want from the 5th Gen?

Pshh..easy

LS2, 6spd, Black/Grey interior, cloth seats with metalic trim, 17 inch rims with wide tires, 3.42 rear end ratio, and in Lazer Red. 6cd player with XM radio, and can seat 4 average adults. I want it to look more like an European GT car (Aston Martin, Ferrari 612, Maserati Coupe) and if they make it, Ttops. Agressive wide stance, wheels pushed the the corners, large green house, long hood, short deck.

Im ready for 07/08...is Chevy?
