What to buy as my next car?

After spending months sulking over the fact that GM ended the f-body, I took a long look around to see what my next new car would be. As much as I wanted to buy another GM car, GM just didn't have anything I wanted. That's really a shame! so I did the unthinkable.. I test drove a 350Z, Infiniti G35, Acura CL Type-S and even considered waiting to get behind the wheel of the new RX-8.

Those are all pretty good cars but tonight, I came home with what those cars just cannot compete with (in my opinion)...

... a nearly new 2002 Pontiac Trans Am Firehawk

After all the looking around, I discovered you just can't beat a good old LS1 V8! It rained on the way home so I can't wait to get out and clean it up as soon as the sun rises in the morning - hope it's not raining!

This is my 4th Trans Am overall and the 2nd in my garage!

Just wanted to share...

Fred (happy "new" car owner")

What a lucky find, I don't think I've ever seen a Firehawk sitting on the lot.

Congratulations on the new car. I am so jealous right now-I want a newer car also (at least a LS1-since I know I can't get a 2002) but don't have any money . Take some pics when you get it all cleaned up.

Some of you poor souls have never seen a Hawk on a lot? Shame, shame...late last summer, I had 4 in stock at once I even took the pics to prove it lol. When I backed them all out of the showroom (we never let anyone test a Hawk, and all were always kept inside), I said to my sales manager "How many other dealers could ever do this???"

In total, 2002 was a fun farewell for me personally. We've sold 32 of the 35 I ordered (still sitting on a TA vert, 3800 vert and a Hawk vert....ARGH!!!!!!), and met some amazing people. 10 of those 35 were Hawks! I sold 2 Hawks myself to people who called looking for a WS6, and had never even heard of a Hawk!

When the last one goes, I may shed a tear...it was a great year. I've been able to keep some momentum going by getting primo used ones at auctions, but it'll never be the same. I do have a rolling memento to the year though, in my own family. My dad has a 390 mile '02 Formula M6 in Sunset Orange sitting in the garage at home Someday gentlemen, someday...it will be mine And it was the only Sunset Orange car I ordered all year!

Not the biggest 4thgen fan out there, but I'm glad you stayed away from those imported disasters and stayed with the f-body. 4thgen 'hawk is plenty worthy

That's a great pic, and I'm glad to hear you stayed with an American car, with all this war stuff especially

Smile

Thanks for all the positive comments! I can't be happier. Spent all day on the road yesterday. Guess I'll have to wash it again today!
