What was this BIG announcement you were all hinting at for the Chicago show?

Some of the guys in the know, were hinting at a BIG announcement by GM at the Chicago show. I hope you weren't talking about the Monte and Impala. Is there still some announcement to come?

Thanks

I think the 04 Corvette Z15 and Z16 will debut...

Likely a Collector Edition and Grand Sport, or something similar.

That's the general concensus. It definitely will not be any kind of "Camaro" announcement.

That was it?

That was it?

WOW

I can remember a time, not too long ago, when Monte Carlos had weak V-8s. Awesome, can't wait.

Hey I even had a V8 Malibu as my first car. A whopping 200 some cubic inch V8 that is.

Look guys, that's what we have to look forward to.

LOL.

It was the Mercury Montego.

Yeah, um... well.... what the he!!?

The Impala and Monte Carlo are the big announcements because they FINALLY got superchargers? Incidentally, only 240hp supercharged motors....

***SHAKES FIST IN THE AIR***

THAT WAS IT????

That can't be it, there has to be something else.

Yes... for how Chicago was talked up as "Chevy's Show"... all I hear is a resounding THUD!

And I am even all in favor of the S/C MC and Impy as a mid-model immprovment... but... we got:

The Aveo.
The s/c MC and Impy, without the expected sheetmetal updating.

That's it.

It could all be worth while if we get to see some special Corvettes.

General Z - Thoe "weak V8's" in 83 Monte SS's were pretty decent for their time period...175hp and then 180hp in 85-88 Montes. The problem there was that they sat on their laurels (as they're doing now) and didn't tweak the cars at all through their life span. They sat on them, and didn't upgrade at all. Added a few colors, and changed the strip package/wheels...whoopty do.

To this day, I still don't understand why Monte SS's never got 350's at some point during the 4th gen run.

...and back on topic....how long does it take to make a little special collector edition C5 announcement? We're waiting GM.....
