Went to the New England Auto Show last night, and found my next car!

Not that this should surprise any of the regulars here, but I found my next car...and it will be an MC SS

They had a black SS there with black leather, moonroof, high polished wheels, side airbags and XM. Basically, it is THE MC SS I would order for myself. In person, I think its beautiful, especially in black. The MC LT I saw last week that made me go "nice, but eh..." is transformed in SS trim. The 18s and GFX make this car look like its going fast standing still. The nose is better blended to the rest of the car with the GFX and side skirts. The tail looks great with the revised lenses, new badges and dual chrome tips. This car has "the look," and made the GTO sitting a few cars over look like a bloated Cavalier with hood scoops Not GTO bashing here, folks...I've got love for those cars. But remember, you're reading a post by a 25 year old with a white and orange F body...visual speed is something I crave

Inside, the seats and gague cluster are miles ahead of before. The shifter looks every bit as terrible as it does in the Impy, though...cheap and plastic. That will have to go. The dash looks nice with the new trim, and the center stack looks great, and is very well integrated to the rest of the dash (unlike GP center stack). The only other interior dissapointment remains the door panels. GM, there was a time you actually put CLOTH on door panels...remember when? The door panels look like injection molded crap, just like every other '00-'05 Monte made. Overall though, the interior styling is nice, comfortable, ergonomics are well done and its definitely more pleasurable than my GP on the inside...something I could NOT say about the '00-'05s.

So, after bantering on this board for months about my next purchase, assuming I get this new job I'm interviewing for in 2 days, throughout the winter I'll be hoarding $$$ away for a down payment sometime next year Ash and I had a long talk on the way back, and she wants my GP. The GA is just a little too small and a little too thrashy for her. She loves the GP, and I don't want to get rid of it because its too nice, so it makes sense. So, it looks like the IROC and the Formula will have to wait for another year down the road, because if I have my way, a black MC SS will be in the yard next summer.

And in case anyone is wondering, YES, it will have a "3" on the rear quarter window, a red bowtie at the top of the rear window, and maybe a Chevrolet windshield banner for good measure. Blacked out windows, with a couple SLP tips poking out the back Torque steer be damned, and GXP suspension? OH well. This car just has the look, and less doors

Just wondering, with that statement are you planning on moving to the deep south

I am still waiting to eyeball the MC, they are still missing in action around here and so is the Grand Prix GXP.

I rode around Lowes Motorspeedway in one, Brian Vickers driving. Wow, that car can really handle the track at 135mph!

Haven't even seen one yet unfortunately. Nobody has them around here yet (not even the base ones).

Jason, I'd like to see you win the lottery. You'd immediately have an MC SS, GXP, G6 GTP, Formula Firehawk, and of course, an IROC in your garage the day after.
You sound like me sometimes. I look at the car classifieds even though I know I don't have any money to buy any of them, or space to park them.

A #3 sticker and a big red bowtie on the rear window, that is exactly what I got on my Camaro.

Same here, I have seen only one GXP on the roads and not a single MC SS yet. I'm very surprised.

My DD is a black 2000 MC, I love it. My dad just has a 2005 MC SS with the Victory (or winner's) Circle pkg.

Re: Went to the New England Auto Show last night, and found my next car!

I thought about what Charlie said, and the MC SS should have deffinatly got some of the GXP treatment to make the coupe much more...coupeish? Im looking foward to the MC SS vs Mustang GT fight. Even though we know who will win the performance, I want to see how it does.
Hell, the GTO beat the Charger SRT8 in the performance test and in price, yet still ended up losing because....? MC could do the same?

I was there on Friday night (dealer preview night) and I saw the car. It looked nice but what really got me is how much better the 07 Yukon that they had looks much better in the flesh then in photos.
I"ll take the z06 that was there or the vette with the semi-auto

Man...how many cars are gonna be your "next" car?

You are almost someone I can point out to my wife as an example of how bad I could be when it comes to wanting cars...

This comes from someone who in the last month has talked about...

#1-Trading in the GTP on a GXP.

or

#2-Buying a GTO as a third car (I may possibly do #1 and #2 togethor...but then she definatly would get mad)

or

#3-Keeping the GTP and buying a used F-body.

or

#4-Doing nothing at all till the summer

My wife likes cars and all....but I am such a fanatic I can wear anyone's patiance thin...

Re: Went to the New England Auto Show last night, and found my next car!

unvc,
Yeah, I like cars In all honesty, my dream garage is my Z, an IROC and my dad's Formula for toys (or a Formula Hawk in its place, if he won't sell me his ), and a decent driver. With an MC SS in the yard, I'm halfway there Pay that off, buy either the Formula or the IROC, then buy the other one. It'll take me 10 years and moving to a different house (only 1 car garage here), but it'll work.

Branden,
I know I yap a lot, but in reality, my "next car" is really whittled down to only 2...a GXP or an MC SS. I did think about the G6 coupe for a few days, but its too small. I like a midsize coupe like a MC. Honestly? I was never nearly this bad until I started the dealership 5 years ago. I was worse when I was full time!! At least only being there 1 day a week, my dreaming time is cut down I know the day after I leave, whatever I have I will keep it for a long, long time. As it is, between Ash and I we'll have the GP for a total of 7 years...I don't see us getting rid of it before the MC is paid off. By then, it'll have 140k on it or so, and we'll probably part ways with it shortly thereafter...

As for the rest of you, its hard living in MA with cars that belong down south And yes, I am and always will be a diehard Earnhardt fan (the only sticker on my Z28 besides the 2 big orange ones is a "In Memory of 3" round sticker). Every car I have owned has had a 3 on it (all 7, and both of Ashleigh's), and always will. Owning a black MC SS not only fulfills an Earnhardt fan's dream, but also the fact that I love a big V8, FWD for a driver, and the fact that I've wanted a black V8 MC SS since the '80s I never did think I'd be able to purchase a new one, but GM decided to help me out for '06
