Went to a Lucerne V.I.P. Event - Was the Youngest Person there by about 35 years

I have really tried to like the Lucerne. I had my self convinced that I wanted to buy one. I wanted a great big Buick cruiser.

Anyway, I went to a "V.I.P. Lucerne Event" which was the weakest type of event that I have ever gone to. I am 28 and was the youngest customer there by at least 35 to 40 years. The salespeople didn't even want to talk to me. They had a bunch of stripped down Lucerne's one optioned out. No matter how much I try to convince myself, its just not doing it for me.

The exterior is nice, except for the front end. The interior is pretty boring. With the bench seat option up front, the dash and shifter are straight out of the eighties or early nineties.

I know they are going for the older set, but jeez, here was an opportunity to bring some younger buyers into the fold.

The Lacrosse is so small. And, optioned out, it is just as expensive.

Heck, I started looking at the Grand Prix. Now, I think I may buy a base Grand Prix, loaded with options including the Special Edition package and call it a day. My biggest complaint with that car is the back seat is small for my in-laws.

Just whining.

I did talk to one old guy that was telling me all about the "Touring Package" on his Park Avenue. It's got a different rear end, so it gets good gas mileage.

I kept asking about the rear end on that one. It was a 98 I think.

If the Lacrosse is "so small", why would you look at the like-sized Grand Prix?

Lacrosse is small compared to the Lucerne maybe, but it isn't a small car. Same size as Grand Prix and Impala.

That must have been awkward, though, being at an event like that and having all the 65 year olds wondering what the hell that young punk is doing here!

By "rear end", are you referring to the axle ratio? Because on the FWD Lucerne and Park Avenue, it would not be at the rear of the car.

I know it was not the "rear end." That's why I kept asking about it, just for fun.

I almost informed him that he had FWD and just decided that it wouldn't even be worth trying to explain.

I guess I didn't realize that the Lacrosse is the same size as the Grand Prix. It gives the appearance of being small. Even not being next to a larger car, it looks small. It also has the feel to it (for me anyway) of the folks that buy that tiny, ugly, base model jag because now they are big pimping in their jag.

I would also like to get navigation as an option and its not available on the Lacrosse. It will be on the Lucerne in the first quarter of 2006. It is an option on the Grand Prix.

I'm sorry, it doesn't have 9000 HP or RWD or a manual trans. Must not matter, or heck even exist I guess.

You replied didn't you? Must have cared.

Heck, you posted in this forum about oil prices. How does that belong here?

Who cares?

The point is Buicks are one of, if not the, most boring cars on the road.

And no, I don't care b/c I'm killing time while formating & reloading a server.

They also happen to be one of the highest quality cars on the road, and have a loyal following. Boring is not a term that comes to mind for me. When I think boring, I think, Camry, Civic, aw heck, Honda, Toyota, Hyundai, KIA

km, if you're not gonna bring anything constructive to the conversation, don't bother posting in it. I'm actually curious as to what he experienced and how he felt on the new Lucerne. It fits in this forum, so if you don't like it, don't click it.
We talk about Lexus here too but I haven't seen you throw up any smoke about that, even though they are just as boring.

The same exact thing could be used as a reply to you bashing the thread's existance to begin with.... which started this little circle of irony.
