I'd very likely take an SS over an SRT4 for the reasons others note, namely being a more complete and refined car. But I'd take a good look before reading the original post and setting off with check book in hand for a scaled back model. I'm thinking a used Vibe GT or Protege5 might be a better runabout.

These have worked great in the Ion RL for wheel hop and shifter feel. I don't know if they would work on the Cobalt SS, though.

With the SS its just all about the total package that rocks and what easily sold me . I HATE the Scion dash...its hideous IMO. The 20 extra HP is chewed up by the Scion's higher weight, too (something people tend to ignore when talking about HP). The 0-60 on a Cobalt stick is 8.1 seconds...Scion is 7.8. I wouldn't call that a rousing victory...would anyone here?
When Car and Driver claims there's "sweat stains on the detailing" of the interior, I cannot imagine ANYONE here faulting the interior of at least an LS model Cobalt...
