Lightbulb Hmmm ...

Ford had no vehicles on the list, yet the Stang outsold the F's 3 : 1 ...

Amazing what happens when you support your products w/ advertising !

I fail to understand the Olds decsion, either - the Alero & Intrigue are good looking cars.

Ah, good ol' corporate mentality run GM.

Let's hope Bob Lutz can turn around the internal mindset as well as the product line !!

The sad truth to this is neither cars sold.

In 2001, sales of the entire Oldsmobile line (roughly 12,000 for the year) was at the very least tied by Pontiac Firebird sales alone (don't ask about 2002).

Doesn't say much about either.

Perfectly timed link.

I was discussing exactly that issue with the fleet manager at the dealer we use today ... trying to explain how our '02 Envoy experience has left us "underwhelmed".

I'll be passing the link on to him.

I'm sure a dead brand isn't going to sell well. What was Olds' volume before it was announced it was going away? To me, that would be a more true indicator of how well they sold.
