Viper plant first Chrysler facility to reopen
...Viper buyers know what they want before they even leave the house, and most all of them in recent years have ordered their own.
Viper's demographic is 96% male, average age of 45 years old, with a typical income of $173,000 per year.
44% are college graduates.
62% are married.
They work almost exclusively as an executive or are entrepreneurial.
They are primarily into racing and or other sponsored track or motorsport events as a hobby.
That's directly off of Chrysler's Dodge Viper demographics.

Because i know everyone is wondering, here's Corvette's demographics.
47% are College grads
Median age is 53 years old (82% are between 40 and 69 years old).
60% are married.
74% are male.
Median income is $150,000 per year.
Corvette buyers, based on questionaires, are expressive, prestige-conscious and goal oriented.
Oh, yeah..... and 67% of Corvette coupe buyers ordered the automatic (80% of the convertible buyers ordered the automatic).
The Z06's 8000 manual only cars made in 2007 helped keep manual transmission production respectable, but even still, only 18K had manuals versus 22K automatics.
In short, next to the Viper, Corvette buyers are significantly older, they've wanted a Corvette for some time, they make less money but still aren't hurting.
1 of every 4 corvettes go to females, a huge majority go with an automatic, fewer are married, more are college grads, and while Viper buyers tend to be heads of companies or businesses and have a heavy intrest in racing and motorsports as a hobby, Corvette buyers are more intrested in the status in saying they have a Corvette and have tended to work their way through to a high paying position within their field or company.
Intrestingly, Corvette sales are concentrated in Michigan as opposed to California (based on population density).
Even more strange, Vipers have very high percentage of owners that actually take their car to a track, while Corvettes tend to lead more pampered lives and owners often go to gatherings.
In case anyone was intrested.

My theory on Chrysler's restart plans are this:
I believe they will restart the plants that were slated to close in the BK papers. This allows them time to retool other plants that will be building some of the products that were built at the closing plants.
For example, the St. Louis North (STLN) plant builds regular cab light duty; 8' box light duty; crew cab; and Ram Box. The other 2 plants do not build those.
They can run STLN while retooling Saltillo and Warren for those products. When the other 2 plants are retooled, they will shut STLN.
The other reason I believe this to be true is that they probably want to build out the '09 vehicles left on the line when they sent everybody home on May 1st. Get those vehicles out the door and then shut the doors.
The Viper plant (Conner Ave) is one slated for closure.
Some of the guys at STLN are saying that they're hearing that temps and those who did not take a buyout will be brought back for 28 days and then that's it. Of course it's just a rumor and this rumor apparently only applies to STLN. If you heard the rumors that make the rounds at Chrysler it would make your head spin.
