Velite article with some Zeta bits
Velite article with some Zeta bits
Article has alot of old stuff, and a few new items.
Basically confirming that it will have double wishbone front suspension & a 5 link independent rear suspension.
http://www.goauto.com.au/mellor/mell...256E6700244E0B
Not mentioned in the article, there will be essentially 2 Zetas. A "performance" Zeta, and a "full size" Zeta. The "full size" Zeta will be out 1st in 2007 and is what Buick will have under it's Velite coupe (assuming it's likely approval) & the Park Ave replacement. The "performance chassis" will be out about a year later, in 2008. This will include the GTO and a Chevrolet coupe.
GM's performance chassis will have a different rear suspension & rear end than the "full size" Zetas, capable of handling large amounts of torque, and without the occasionally severe rear axle-hop that the CTSv is fast becoming nortorious for.
BTW: The Velite has nothing in common, looks wise with GTO of Chevy's sports coupe. The latest person who has actually seen the car that I've contacted calls it (in their exact words) "kickass". They seem to be pretty darn enthusiastic about the looks, and I don't make them out to be a retro fan, so I'll take their word.

I would at least like to see a concept by 07 for this chevy coupe. At this point, I realy dont care what its called. Id like Camaro, but I really just want a $26k, 380-400hp, 6spd, RWD, red with ttops, Chevy coupe. Ill make my own Camaro badges if I need too.
Is there any news on talking about this performance chassis having IRS or live axle? And I was under the impression that the GTO will not share the smaller chassis with the Camaro, but will use the standard size Zeta. I always thought of a 3 level chassis: short, standard, and long wheel base
short: camaro, opel, saturn, saab,
standard: GP, GTO, Velite, LeSaber
long: Impalla(or other), Bonnie, Park Ave, numerious crossovers/small suv's.
The Velite is a big car in size, but low on weight and high on power. Very high on power.

more velite stuff
I guess the cats out of the bag now. Motor Trend has a 2 page article on the Velite. It has a 400hp, twin turbo 3.6 V6, but no word on a trans. I havent read the whole thing, but it looks good.
And there is also a good GTO vs CLK 55 AMG article saying that the GTO is " 85-90% of the goodness-- for less then 50 percent of the cost"
At least people outside the fbody community like it.
This is a great comparison. Not like people are going to drop there CLK's for GTO's, but it will give people a good perspective on the GTO.

Toyota, Honda, hell, Kia does it, and its awesome. Why whenever GM does something is it "odd" or "stupid" or something else? GM wants to make a V10...why?
GM wants to make a luxury sports coupe...why?
GM wants to make a supercharged sport compact...why?
GM wants to make a rwd roadster...why?
Im just sick and tired of whenever GM does something that is cool, or when they bring something in that people wanted, its turned into a negitive.

I simply said it was "odd."
Why: Because they did it to a Buick. GM has been trying/is trying/will be trying to make Buick a more luxurious brand, while sacrificing a bit of performance. Why would they make a concept with a twin turbo V6 producing 400 HP under a Buick instead of a Chevy/Pontiac/Caddy? It doesn't make sense to me, unless their trying to pay a little homage to the Grand National.
I personally love it, and think GM should keep this up.

I never implied it as a negative.

It is strange, but this would make for a great sports car.
I really have to stop working so much, and spend more time on the internet!
