VE compared to current CTS...

Mildly interesting comparison of my recently purchased 2006 Cadillac CTS Sport; MSRP $40,240; 255 HP V6, 5-speed auto to new 2007 Holden VE SS-V; MSRP $41,600 (in US dollars); 362 hp V8, 6-speed auto.
CTS - VE
Length: 190.1 - 192.7
Width: 70.6 - 74.8
Height: 56.7 - 58.1
WB: 113.4 - 114.7
Front hip: 53.4 - 56.7
Front shoulder: 56.6 - 59.0
Would people pay $42,000 for VE here? What US brand would allow it to sell for that kind of cash? This car compares more than favorably with a CTS priced about the same but with lots more hp and interior room. Could a Pontiac-branded VE sell for $40,000+? Chevy?

I honestly think GM should pull a Saturn-Opel with Pontiac and Holden. Just send all of the holdens over hear as pontiacs. problem solved, at least thats where my head currently is

We pay too much for our cars... compared to our US friends.

Re: VE compared to current CTS...

VE price does not include tax (just like CTS).
I really like the CTS so far. Very impressed with steering. I was looking into a low-mileage 2003 530i, but this CTS drives just as good, and has a bit more power. Plus, I made major points with the wife; she's always wanted a new Cadillac. Perhaps they'll bring the VE over here in a few years and we can put one in the garage next to it...
