V8 05 Stang for under 20k!

I just saw this HERE, and was wondering how much truth there is to this? This is new to me.

This looks like the much-rumored ST variant. I however have a hard time believing Ford would offer a V8 car for under $20,000. Doesn't matter how content-delete happy you get.

All though i'd be very interested in such model, it might not have that good of a business case going for it just by looking at how diverse the mustang lineup already is and will be in a couple of years (upto as much as 4 models with 4 different engines). This is assuming there'll be a v6, GT, some intermediate v8 model (like BOSS), and Cobra. Is an LX really needed?? I understand it'll basically be a cheaper GT, but the GT and v6 are priced close enough not to warrant a middle trim.,

That and i'm sure Ford would rather us buy the more expensive 25+k GT. Just more money in their pocket.

I'll beleive it when I see it too. Besides, isn't the base V6 model supposed to start at around 20k?

I just read another article that quoted 25k for the GT.

Another way to think about it

Give Ford Credit, that was hard to say. Since the mustang is going to be priced lower, then perhaps the same can be said for picking up a Z-28 for around the same amount of money. As compared to 35k which is a figure floated around on this board before for the 5thgen

People have been talking about that quote for afew weeks now.

I think that it's just a mis-communication.

If you goto www.carsdirect.com you will notice that you can buy a current 04 GT for under 20k deluxe so if the new car only cost few hundred more to make than current one why is it so hard to belive that they cant make stripped down ver of new one for less than 20k.

Those prices coming out of the seller's margin and is NOT MSRP, so it's NOT Ford selling the car at a cut rate price.

Dealers buy cars from manufacturers at a set price. Manufacturers may add incentives to the dealer and buyer for a number of reasons: To bring CAFE numbers up, to keep the factory going during a slow period, or any number of reasons.

Dealers then sell the car for the most money they can squeeze out of you (there's alot of margin to work with.

If Ford is going to sell a V8 Mustang for $20,000, (add me to the "Believe it when I see it" group) that's MSRP, not an incentive and rebate loaded price from someone willing to cut their take on the deal.
