Last I heard, no plans for v6 as of right now. Not ruled out, but no plans.

Last I heard -- and I follow the Mopar news and rumors pretty closely -- the 3.5 V6 (250 hp) will be available from the start. FWIW, I hear that from people who work for suppliers and have access to DCX systems, and I've heard it in the last few weeks.

Correct...I have a friend that works at the Brampton plant..."C" Specialist I believe...and he was messing around in the computer one day...entered in the Challenger option and noticed 4...that's right 4...different lines for said car. When he asked about it...he was told about the six and two V8's...and was told, and I quote "I can't tell you about the fourth, 'cause I would lose my job...but it is going to be bad ***"...this came from his boss...take it for what it is worth.

Big BIG Hemi, says the Mopar rumor mill.

The others are 3.5/5.7 Hemi/6.1 Hemi, obviously.

Aparently someone has decided against the "low-volume, high-content only" game plan. 'Twould be a good move!

The stuff I've been hearing recently points in the opposite direction -- they're aiming to shoot the lights out on volume and they're going to price aggressively, at least at first. I suspect that somebody figured out that selling V6 Challengers for full MSRP -- even with aggressive pricing -- was likely to be more profitable and better for the company's image than selling stripped Chargers to rental fleets, and they really want to keep that factory working three shifts.

Of course, it ain't official until it's official, as they say...

I think the new Phoenix engines will soon replace any V6 that will be in the Challenger, seeing as the engine is suppose to come online soon after production starts on the car.

That is what we've heard from suppliers etc, but there have been some hints from people connected with SRT saying that an even bigger Hemi is being worked on. (You can probably guess the rumored size.)

Let me guess, 426, 472 or 528. I will go with 426. I'd love to have a 3G 528 Aluminum Hemi, though.

My guess is that the SRT Challenger will be a 6.4 (around 525 hp) and that there will be a limited run of "HO" SRTs late in the model cycle that use a new-gen 426 and put out crazy amounts of power, but I think that'll depend on gas prices and the political climate. At minimum, I expect to see the 426 as a crate engine in the next couple of years. We'll see.

What if they put the Viper engine in this thing. That would make a statement!
