updated 5th gen design

well I fixed it finally. Have not been on here in a long time. It is a little Aston Martin- esque but those are sweet so that's ok.

5th gen

let me know what you all think .

Like all concept cars, it has 6 inch high windows, 24 inch wheels, and no door handles or body moldings

I like it though

Get rid of the spear on the grill and then we're talking about a good looking car.

I like it alot, but like Jungleman, I would really like to see alot of these very talented artists turn their designs in a more realistic tack. IE: A Camaro concept that actually has room for a backseat, doesnt have the seats reclined to 75°, and has realistic proportions.

Re: updated 5th gen design

To tell you the truth about auto design, that is how it works. You want to see a drawing of an actual car, go find someone who does that. The designers layout of the first designs of cars that are way overboard with tall wheels, no profile tires, no ground clearance, etc. Because if they drew it with the 16 inch wheels and 6 inches of clearance of a normal sedan, it just would not look as good. Take any first rendering for any car done by any company in the last 20 years, and this is what you get.

The windows are actual size, the only exageration on this design are the wheels, no tires and ground clearance.

Here is a rendering of the Solstice by the designer, http://www.cadinfo.net/editorial/pontiac-2.jpg

Here is one of the GTO, notice no ground clearance

here's the Mustang with 30 inch wheels and no side windows,

Corvette

and finally the most extreme example, now remember this is an actual Pontiac Press release marker rendering,

This is actually how it's done in the porfession.

Not arguing that. Just saying Im tired of over-exaggerated, over-proportioned drawings.

Re: updated 5th gen design

As for the spear on the front, it covers a spot where the corner of the grill comes up too far, but if I make it shorter, it doesn't flow right, and besides it would look better in person

I like it, 70 to 73 were the best looking cars IMO, although a 69 is also pretty smart.

Good looking, but don't like the chunky front end. Otherwise, nice concept. Agree with the others, we need more realism.

That's how 99% of most cars start out..

I was just going to say the same thing. You start wild and then bring it back to reality to meet restrictions and guidlines. It's fine as a working concept, but yes, it is not a finnished one so no problem there. It's just that people like to see completed ideas.

I don't care for the spear either, and perhaps (IMO) the front grill is a little too tall, but I definately like the lines!

I gotta start sketching cars again....
