Update: Corvette C6 Times

Well Car & Driver in the Dec. 2004 issue did a comparison with the Corvette Z51 vs. Porsche 911 Carrera.

Corvette posted a 0 to 60 time of 4.1 seconds, which is .2 seconds faster than there previous test. Also 1/4 mile times were .1 second faster at 12.6 @ 114

I am still waiting for the C6 to get in the proper hands to see how it does, I think 12 flat is very possible.

Re: Update: Corvette C6 Times

That review was horrible. The C6 took teh 911 out by 2.32 seconds at the track! The C6 won by a single point....

And how do you judge "gotta have"? I "gotta have" the faster, better handling, much sexier C6.

12.00 in the 1/4 is highly unlikely with a stock car...with a prepped track, ideal conditions, and a professional driver at the top of his game, i think the best hope is about a 12.2, which is still quite fast....

doesn't seem that long ago when if a car could run under 14.5, right from the factory, that was considered blazing!!

114mph from an engine with a powerband that the LS2 has? I think that should easily be low 12s material. I would not doubt it hitting 12.0 with a good driver in great conditions.

Re: Update: Corvette C6 Times

I think its interesting to read C&D's review of the new 911 and then see what Top Gear (british TV show all about cars) had to say about it. I think that C&D just tries too hard sometimes to make forgien cars (esp those from bratwurstland) seem so perfect. The 911's gearshift actually came off in Jeremy Clarksten's (one of hte tv show's hosts) hand when he was driving it!! German Quality! Never mind what he had to say about the redesign. To be fair though, he was pretty hard on the C6 too.

Not that I wouldn't mind driving either one of those cars, but just comparing the Euro (British) perspective to C&D's almost worship of anything out of Germany.

Re: Update: Corvette C6 Times

Now that is more like it (114mph traps). The previous 107-112mph traps had me worried. Still, not the same the Zo6's 116-117mph, but almost inline with the early 385hp z06's.

Re: Update: Corvette C6 Times

Yeah, I rad that article too at a magazine store. The corvette owned the proshe in track and 1/4 mile times, then they started saying that they would still have the porshe even if it was only $15, 000 more! That's just crap, anyways I got mad and put the magazine down.
