I don't think its a rip off of the CTS. Not enough sharp edges. If I squint hard enough, I could MAYBE see a little CTS in that car.

Still it looks real nice though, so is it going to be FWD, AWD, RWD? What sort of motor? Is Ford going to come out with anything to compete with the Chrysler LX cars or not?

GM eventually will when we get Zeta cars.

Only thing that comes close to CTS is headlights imo. Looks more like a rounded version of the 427 concept from a couple of years back.

I actually like it. If they can get an AWD version with a sub-250hp 3.5L Duratec and 6spd auto for around or under 25k, they'd have a winner on hand.

Re: Undisguised Ford Fusion pics.

There is a large thread on BON on the car. Some, who seem to be in the know, have said that a fully loaded AWD auto (6-speed), with the 3.5L, is supposed to top out at $26K.

If that is the case, then they should sell a boat load.

I'll believe that when I see it...

Looks a lot better than the 500. I like it.

Five hundred = VW
Lincon LS = BMW
Fusion = Caddy

I agree...AWD for 26k with an AT? I don't see it. That would mean every other car in the segment is overpriced by a couple grand. I can see a FWD going for $26k...but not AWD.

If it does, then Pontiac is going to half to be VERY competitive with its pricing of the G6 AWD version (aka selling it for the same price as a FWD sells for). I don't see $26k for this car with AWD, at all...

An AWD duratec powered 500 with the CTV tranny (non of the 500's AWD trims have 6spd auto) can be had for as little as 23k granted it isn't fully loaded. I would think the fusion would slot in under the 500.

I don't know if a fully loaded example of the fusion would come in at the mentioned 26k, but i have no doubts about a well optioned one with AWD and 3.5L Duratec coming in at or around 26k. If the 500 can, why can't the fusion?

Now i know where i saw those headlights, the Mercury Mountanier.

I guess my next question is: Why is Ford going to have the 500 and the Fusion in their lineup? Isn't that a tad redundant (especially if they are around the same price point like Gold_Rush pointed out)?

I agree with you, and think the money would be better spent making one good best-in-class mid-sized sedan instead of two mid-sized one that'll compete for the same market. But it's probably like the Malibu and Imp case where one is smaller and the other is somewhat bigger despite both being mid-sized sedans. Still somewhat redundant, but it makes their linups appear bigger and it does offer the consumer more than one option. I could see myself in a fusion, but not a 500 so this extra option in the mid-sized class is somewhat nice in my book. However, i could also see one stealing sales from the other, so i hope Ford doesn't have goals of dethroning the Accord or Camry as the best selling mid-sized sedans anytime soon.

I hope the Fusion is priced a bit less, but there will definitly be some overlap in terms of pricing. I guess the 500 will be the bigger/roomier of the two with the fusion being the more sporty/stylish. The fusion (like the malibu) will probaly have a 4 banger option (i've heard two 4cylinders with one being a hybrid) while the 500 will be limited to a v6 much like the Impala.

We'll see how successful they are in seperating the two.

For the same reason the Chevy has the Malibu & Impala and Pontiac has the G6 & Grand Prix

The Fusion is the "entry-level" midsized entry while the 500 is a "premium" midsized (large?) car. Since the one-size-fits-all Taurus was dying, it was time for a change in strategy. In reality, if you think of the Fusion as long delayed Contour replacement you'd be closer to the truth. Hertz will be very happy to add the Fusion to its rental fleet. It could mean an end to Mustang coupes being offered in the "mid-sized" rental category.

I am incorrect in thinking that it might get the same awd 2.3 Turbo hardware that the mazda6 is about to get?

Re: Undisguised Ford Fusion pics.

Lol I just skimmed through it and thought that the Fusion was a cadilac, so I kept on looking for the Fusion then realized that the cadilac was the Ford
