Under hood of the 05 Impala SS

http://www.impalasuperstore.com/nais...earchTerms=ls1

I think this is what the underhood of the 05 SS will look like anyone agree? I just noticed how much freakin room there is under that hood. my goodness the LS1/LS4 is such a tiny motor on the outside yet such a beast on the inside.

I believe brendon said it would be 05 which would put it into production at the end of 04 CY, is that right. Also I have been hearing GM is waiting till the body style change which may have gotten canned.

I think this may be one of the biggest Question marks inside GM-What to do with Monte Carlo and Impala?

Think of it the car is selling really well and if you chage it you might loose some customers.

Yeah well, they would sure as hell sell more Montes if they changed the style...

Everyone I talk to who is not a GM fan looks at those cars and says "Damn, they are ugly!" Its too bad, because I like the interiors and the driving of them. But even I can't grow to love the outside. Sure, the '95-'99s were completely plain, but at least people didn't want to hurl when they saw one.

The Impala has grown on me a lot in 4 years...I almost bought an '02 LS instead of my GP. Gotta have 2 doors though

I for one ,aparently, love the style of the new monte carlos. I also have a 97 Z34 so I guess I am different because I like it too.

Put it this way...I WANT to like the Montes. When I worked at the dealer, I almost bought a black '02 SS. I put a dealer plate on it and drove it for a week...unanimously, whenever I pulled up somewhere, people said to me "keep your Grand Am" (I had an '02 GT coupe). I was shocked...but then I looked at it...I sorta saw their point, especially on the tailights.

Now, with the Grand Prix, even though it is a 7 year old design, almost unanimously people love the style. I have never heard ONE PERSON say anything bad about the '97-'03 GPs, style wise. I'm not trying to make my choice look better than anyone elses, but it was surprising for me to see how well regarded the GP was, and how disdained the MC SS was.

Those photos have been up at the 9C1.com site for like 3 years now. I really wished they released that LS1 powered Impala, but they ran into some problems and the LS1 plan was scrapped. I hope the 5.3 V8 versions make it to production.

These prototypes have been running around for a long while now, I remember seeing a FWD V8 Monte Carlo in Hot Rod magazine back in around 2001.

Does it seem like a current Impala with FWD and a V8 is more accepted by most?? I would have thought that people would be jumping in here to barth at "FWD" and "V8" in the same context, but, I don't know, it's more acceptable??? I've seen pics of Impala with LS1 in previous years but they never did motivate me with enthusiam.

GM gives us a RWD V8 with all the goodies as standard, and controversy pursues, granted it's more with the "name" rather than the "car". I'll never understand!!!! Granted that JasonE mentioned that he has people (would-be customers??) with positive comments on the looks of the GP (and not Monte...).

All I know is that I'm set for the next few years ready for a 4-door "Commodore/Statesman" derivative with a V8 as my family car (I have 2 young kids). I have a 2001 Grand Cherokee Ltd with the V8 and a '98 Chrysler Concorde LXI doing family duties. My '94 Corvette is nice but will probably get sold in a few years when the RWD V8 additions from GM arrives....I'll be selling my '97 Miata soon..

Right now, I'm not even considering a Crown Vic or Lincoln LS....
