Kinda funny how most of them think it only goes 40 miles and then requires an 8 hour charge. There is sooooo much ignorance about this car. GM needs to flood the media to make this successful.

Ummmm, wow.

I just can't believe the misinformation. I mean seriously. It would make more sense if the media was saying this stuff and people were latching onto it, but no, most people are just making **** up

Lets put the media aside for a moment... in my humble little opinion, what GM has to absolutely mother flippin NAIL is getting their dealers to do EXTENSIVE training on the ins and outs of this car. Not just price and wheel options. They need to know what the hell they're talking about. I was looking at the Camaros a while ago, thought the place was closed, but a guy came out anyway to talk about the car. He didn't know jack **** about it. Really sad. I hope not all salespeople are like that.

The guy I bought my S10 from sold the new trucks on the same lot, he seemed very knowledgeable on the trucks ins and outs, power, mileage, configurations, ls, lt, ltz. Great guy. GM needs more salespeople like him.

I'm about to crash form ambien, I hope any of that made sense...

WTF! God have you seen some of those comments.

You know what we should all go on the offensive. Go on these boards and register tell them the facts..I know it wont happen but at least a group as good as the one here that knows whats what could at least put some fact into the fiction these jackwagons have been commenting on.

Mellodee or whatever he name is shes got a ton of posts and she thinks the car does 40miles and thats it..WTF..

GM you should send out a mass marketing campaign into areas with the car..show them what it is. What it does. The way to make the ignorant shut up is show them the proof.

Maybe there are some Chevy haters spreading false information.

Personally I loved the idea of the Volt. I never liked the hybrid idea. IMO The all electric Volt is the way to go. With the onboard generator you still have the ability to take that trip cross states without recharging.

Wow, these people are idiots. That Krauthammer guy has absolutely no clue what he is talking about or the history behind the Volt or electric vehicles at GM.

There's nothing you can do about most of these types of people, they have no interest in actually knowing anything about a product, they just make themselves feel empowered by basically making stuff up on the fly and beating their chests and feeling important standing on their soapboxes.

They are probably in politics or will be in the future.

I can't say I'm surprised, but I am disgusted at the herd behavior of the people commenting to agree with the guy on the video clip. He actually said that the car will cost the purchaser $41,000 and the federal tax credit of $7,500 is ADDED to that amount to make it a $50,000 vehicle. Seriously, he doesn't know that a credit is SUBTRACTED from a purchase price? He also talks about how the Volt is an example of a private company producing undesirable products because of government intervention. The Volt concept car debuted January 12th, 2007. Obama was elected in November of 2008. The same people that knock GM for making the Volt while not even understanding it are the same ones that called GM behind the times by not doing like Toyota did with the Prius.... one person in the comment section did both of these in the same post!

The idea behind the volt, the engineering and the technology itself will probably be very good. My issue is the exterior design itself. In my opinion it's boring looking. I understand that a certain shape produces better aerodynamics, but the design just look's rushed.
The design of the concept VOLT was a car that had a very unique look to it. Great proportions and presence.

The production volt for $41K looks cheesy. It has lost almost everything in terms of design that the concept previewed.

While the styling of the production Volt doesn't exactly rival Ferrari (nor should it be expected to, IMO), I'd have to honestly say that I'd perfer to drive it than the concept, which looks liek a cartoon to me.

I think the production car looks like 'wierd' than other green-type cars such as Prius, the upcoming Leaf, or whatever else.

I just have to add that it's so easy to research before making an *** of ones self, but not many people do it. This is right from Chevy's Volt section on their website:

Volt is an electric vehicle that uses gas to create its own electricity. Plug it in, let it charge overnight, and it's ready to run on a pure electric charge for up to 40 miles(4) - gas and emissions free. After that, Volt keeps going, even if you can't plug it in. Volt uses a range-extending gas generator that produces enough energy to power it for hundreds of miles on a single tank of gas.

that short paraghaph would correct 90% of the false beliefs held by commenters on that site.

It's a political site. I can only assume that facts are just annoying little details that get in the way of twisting events to fit preconceived notions of how the world works. It reminds me of the conspiracy theorist mentality.

You guys had to know this was coming, right?

It will take a long time for GM to overcome the "Government Motors" stigma. Now they come out with this "green" car that is offering a tax credit to help offset its high cost. It plays perfectly into criticism by staunch free-market and small government people, who don't know the ins and outs of the auto industry and probably don't care.

You don't notice their venom aimed at Leaf or Prius do you? No, because they didn't need a massive taxpayer bailout to continue to do business. GM has become the target of political criticism, nothing more. GM needs a massive, successful marketing campaign for Volt and an IPO offer sooner rather than later.
