Two years in to the Dodge / Ram seperation and...
...from what I can see, the non-Dodge 2012 Ram trucks still say DODGE in the center of the dash board...
...and the non-Ram 2012 Caliber has the Ram head logo on the front of the grille.
Am I missing any more?

EDIT: Just noticed the 2011 Nitro still has the Ram head logo on the grille too... couldnt find a picture of the 2012 model, perhaps it is discontinued for MY2012. I dunno.
EDIT 2: Looks like the Non-Dodge, Ram Dakota still says "DODGE" real big on the tailgate.

What was the logic behind this separation of branding? I had no idea it had even been done until we were shopping the new Durango recently and I realized the Ram wasn't on www.dodge.com and i had to go to another website (which looked identical to the dodge website).

This has been the slowest split, and it's quite useless in my opinion. I don't see any gains in the split.
What they should of done is kept Ram in Dodge, and use the Ram logo on their regular cars. Then the sportier cars (challenger, charger, ect.) use only the double Red flag logo. No reason to isolate the Ram.

caliber is being replaced next year and the nitro is discontinued.
the reason for the split is because they are trying to turn Dodge into a sporty brand along the lines of Pontiac. Ram is supposed to be trucks and commercial vehicles. you can't claim to be a performance brand and have a fiat work truck on your lot at the same time. the split makes sense to me.

There were some here that speculated that it was because it made it easier for Fiat to sell off the truck division, which was a pretty ridiculous notion being that the trucks are money machines.
I still don't like the idea. I still think Dodge Ram too.

It's a Dodge Ram and it always will be to me.

Re: Two years in to the Dodge / Ram seperation and...
The dealership here is always running ads for great deals on "Dodge Ram's"..makes me laugh. All the Ram brand has done is created added marketing costs, and kept the dealership sign companies in business. I was still dumbfounded they made GM cancel so many brands, but let Dodge make RAM, and then add Fiat. I don't think Fiat is a brand that American's really wanted back. They could have had more success with the 500 by making it a Chrysler or Dodge rebadge with cutsy marketing. Wait..they are going to do that too.
