Trouble for Aveo

From the gminsidenews.com forum: Seems there has been a stop delivery for Aveo. One of the possible reasons....wheels departing from the car at high speed.

This brings up some serious questions like...

How does an Aveo get up to a "high speed"? and....
If everything is relative, than what is a high speed for an Aveo?

This began on 13 February apparently. Focus seemed to survive numerous recalls of a similar nature. Production has stopped...hopefully it won't take long to figure this one out.

One would think that with the last 15 years of history, US car manufacturers would stop trying to import pieces of junk and passing them off as a legitimate part of their lineup.

OMFG

What was that? Did GM just drop the ball even further below ground level? No wonder Toyota is pulling hard on the American car industry . You could buy a Scion for 1K more and have the reliability of a Lexus... I really hope GM gets it together. I have become a believer from this forum, but any time I look at reality, GM is just so far behind in the rest of the auto industry...

[/well deserved rant]

I knew SOMETHING bad would come out of GM going after Daewoo.

Only problem was, I thought the Aveo was the BAD thing, not the wheels falling off!

Ugghhh, GM doesnt need this right now.....

Here-Here!!!

The LEAST we could do is build the junk here to employ our own workers... then pass the junk off as a legitimate part of their lineup.

Let me just say this disclaimer....

There has been no official press release on this. I don't know for certain that it has to do with wheels. Some people that work in dealerships have said there is a stop delivery that started 13 Feb. We'll have to wait for something more official before we know for sure what's going on. It doesn't sound good though.

SO, if GM recalls this... they only have 249 or so more to catch up to Focus, right?

Still a bad thing, though... sheez.

The only way to get an aveo to high speed is to drive it off a cliff, at which point the wheels falling off will be the least of your worries.

I've actually seen about 5 or 6 running around.

A couple red ones... and a cute froggy green colored one. It reminded me of a little baby cartoon frog.

This one was a red sedan, and I only got to see the side. Of course it was boring, but it looked MUCH better than a Geo, so that's good. I may go back Friday and get a better look, although my main mission is to manage a test drive in the yellow GTO our Pontiac dealer finally got. I doubt I can pull that off, though.

I don't think the Focus ever had "recalls of a similar nature." Wheels falling off is not something that I've ever seen happen to a Focus. At least the SVT Focus never had a recall.

The Focus suffered from rear wheel-bearing failures that allowed not only the wheel but also the hub to leave the vehicle.
