Trailblazer/Envoy on the chopping block???
Trailblazer/Envoy on the chopping block???
Whats the real story???
After reading a couple of threads on GMInsideNews, and Cheers & Gears, it would appear that the GMT361 (the update for the GMT360) is getting "evaluated." Word is that they might either get dropped completely, in favor of crossovers, or that they will soldier on.............. with updates here and there (minor............. as in not costing much money).
While I realize that the midsize BOF SUV market is shrinking............ isn't it still profitable??? Ford is continuing the Explorer/Mountaineer along side its new crossovers that are coming out (Edge/Aviator). Isn't there room for both???
Anyway, who is in the know on this??? What is really going on???

Re: Trailblazer/Envoy on the chopping block???
I don't think GM will abandon that market. I don't see how they can.
Besides, i'm not too fond of GM's attempt at a crossover (aztec anyone??). I think they should continue building mid-sized SUV's. And instead of a crossover, they should come out with a stylish AWD wagon with v6 and v8 power.

Re: Trailblazer/Envoy on the chopping block???
I hate this crossover crap. There is already more than enough of it out there. (Before someone points it out, I know there are already enough SUVs out there period, I just don't like crossovers all that much.)
Re: Trailblazer/Envoy on the chopping block???
I very much love my Tribute, and loved my '93 Explorer. They are very much the same, but very different at the same time.
As I no longer need the off-road capability that my Explorer had, my Tribute fits the bill just fine. With the AWD locked in, I have crossed creeks/rivers deeper than I would like to admit.......... and it works just fine as a soft off-roader. However, it gets massively better fuel economy (21 avg vs 13-14), rides and handles significantly better (it is actually fun to drive in the twisties), and has almost as much interior room. It has alot more features than my Explorer had (Eddie Bauer on the Explorer), and cost less than 1K more ($24,600 for my Explorer new, vs 25,300 for the '03 Tribute ES AWD). Additional features include leather, heated seats, power moonroof, electrocromatic rearview mirrow, audiophile stereo system with 6-disc in-dash CD, side airbags (93 had none), and 16" alloy wheels. They are both very reliable.

If you are towing and use the 4x4 for things other than snow SUV>crossover
If you want lots of cargo room, better gas milage than an SUV, and AWD/4WD for snow/ice weather and hate the idea of driving a minivan then then Crossover > SUV

Re: Trailblazer/Envoy on the chopping block???
There seems to be a consensus that the trailblazer has some "issues" that need to be resolved. What are these? I'm looking at buying one, and would like to know. I know the interior is one, but what else do people find lacking in them?
Re: Trailblazer/Envoy on the chopping block???
I don't think they will be going away anytime soon. There are so many variants, they must be making money on them otherwise some would be cut. If I were to pick one up, I would go for a used Olds Bravada, I think they had excellent and unique styling for a SUV and the Olds have higer quality interiors versus Chevy.

I hate to say it, but i think the equinox is a nice vehicle, ever since i saw the first one in the dealer showroom when my mom went to pick up her 2004 Soccer bus (Suburban) it has always held my eye.

Re: Trailblazer/Envoy on the chopping block???
a bad 22 months and everyone starts calling for the mortitioner for GM and its products.
Reminds me of those people in the streets who wear the signs "the world is coming to an end!" using gas prices as an example.
It takes all kinds

Ummmm, FutureZman, in this case, GM is the proposed mortitioner. They are the ones who have put the GMT361 on hold, while they discuss their options. Noone is forcing them to do anything (well, except maybe stockholders who want some money).
